General Statement of Job

Under general supervision of the Executive Director of AARE, this position is responsible for assisting in operations, problem solving, and technical support of PowerSchool.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Supports, understands, and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Richland County School District One.

Effectively interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders including end-users, district staff, immediate supervisor, and other school district personnel.

Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.

Supports the leadership of the Accountability, Assessment, Research, Evaluation and PowerSchool (AARE)ย in the process of effective decision making, communication and prioritization of projects and tasks.

Leads implementation of PowerSchool systems in collaboration with key district and school stakeholders including planning, development, testing, documentation, deployment, training, and support.

Supports strategies and solutions to streamline collection, distribution, and sharing of data.

Creates coherent, easy to use reports using appropriate tools in PowerSchool that support existing software integrations and applications. Where applicable, reports should be exportable in other formats such as csv, PDF, etc.

Database skills to include development and troubleshooting of simple to intermediate queries and views, data analysis, and use of common tools such as MS SQL Server Management Studio.

Identify, track, and manage issues and user requests using collaborative tools. Keep key business owners and AARE apprised of open items on a regular basis. Work through open items in a timely manner and with vendor support as needed.

Works with vendors to address issues and identify solutions.

Collaborates with contacts in other school districts on common needs.

Expands knowledge of existing hardware, software, and related technologies and processes and attains new skills as needed to keep pace with new technologies.

Interacts and communicates with end-users, district staff, immediate supervisor, and other school district personnel.ย 

Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree or associate's degree in information systems or related field with a minimum of two years of information systems experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the ย required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three or more years of information systems experience.

Routinely develops oral and written communications for distribution and presentation to key stakeholders and colleagues.

Experience in application and user security setup and creation.

Knowledge of querying MS SQL Server databases.

Experience working with vendors for system application, implementation, support, and troubleshooting.

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including a computer, telephone, audio-visual equipment, and vehicle.ย  Must be able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.ย  Sedentary work involves sitting much of the time, but also involves walking or standing for periods of time.ย  Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 20 pounds.
