Job description

Job Title: Expert Technical Lead / Programmer Analyst (BigID & Data Governance)
Role Overview
We are seeking an Expert Technical Lead to serve as the primary technical authority and resident subject matter expert (SME) for our enterprise data privacy and discovery platform, specifically managing the BigID ecosystem (BigID Core and Privacy Portal). In this role, you will provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and long-term platform strategy while driving end-to-end data governance capabilities.
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role where you will act as the primary technical liaison with platform vendors, mentor Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams, and ensure scalable, secure platform performance. You will partner closely with privacy, compliance, and infrastructure stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into robust technical platform solutions. If you possess deep expertise in data discovery, cloud architectures, and programmatic integration, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Ownership & Technical Leadership
• Technical Authority: Serve as the primary technical owner and SME for BigID Core and Privacy Portal across production and non-production environments.
• Architecture & Design: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of end-to-end platform architecture-including cloud-hosted components, remote on-premises scanners, SaaS integrations, and complex data flows.
• Escalation & Direction: Act as the final technical escalation point for complex platform issues, providing design guidance for custom integrations, enhancements, and new capabilities.
Data Discovery & Platform Integration
• Data Classification: Provide expert guidance on data discovery concepts, structured vs. unstructured data classification, and scan result interpretation across repositories such as Oracle, SQL databases, and SharePoint.
• API Development: Design, implement, write, and maintain robust API integrations and advanced scripting solutions to support automated platform workflows.
• Compliance Alignment: Partner with Privacy and Compliance stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements (such as CCPA/GDPR) into technical enablement controls.
Operations, Mentorship & Vendor Management
• O&M Oversight: Provide technical oversight, operational review, and mentoring to support teams to ensure long-term platform health, stability, and proactive issue detection.
• Vendor Collaboration: Act as the primary technical liaison with the software vendor for tier-3 support escalations, roadmap reviews, and architectural alignment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience Baseline: 7+ years of professional experience in programming analysis, software engineering, or enterprise platform administration.
• Technical Mastery:
o3-5+ years of hands-on experience working with BigID or comparable enterprise data privacy and discovery platforms.
oStrong proficiency in scripting languages and proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining APIs.
o8-10+ years of comprehensive experience with database concepts, data storage patterns, and repository platforms (Oracle, SQL, SharePoint).
• Core Competencies: Advanced problem-solving skills, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to balance hands-on technical coding/configuration with strategic architectural guidance.
Preferred Attributes
• 1-2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (compute, networking, security, IAM, and hybrid cloud architectures).
• Experience supporting privacy, data discovery, or governance platforms in regulated enterprise environments.
• Excellent technical documentation, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
