Title: Senior Network Automation Engineer (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months with the possibility of extension based on demand
Location: Charlotte, NC
 
Hybrid (preferred) 1-2 days/week onsite - preferable to candidates within 1 hour of Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY.
Schedule: M-F, 8am - 5pm. OT possible. Some flexibility may be required due to work with global teams.
 
Potential travel of up to 5% (for Corning, NY candidates), domestic only. Expected as 1x per quarter travel onsite to Charlotte, NC location.
 
Only W2 candidates are eligible for this position. Third-party or C2C candidates will not be considered.
Scope of Position:
  • Our client is seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer to serve as a technical leader in designing, developing, and operating large‑scale network automation solutions across enterprise environments. This role requires deep hands‑on experience with Arista automation using AVD (Arista Validated Designs), strong Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) principles, and proven expertise building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for network automation.
  • The ideal candidate has an automation‑first mindset, thrives in complex enterprise environments, and partners closely with network engineering, operations, security, and platform teams to drive standardization, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities

Network Automation & Engineering
  • Act as a senior subject matter expert for network automation across routing, switching, data center, and campus environments.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Arista AVD‑based automation frameworks for Day‑0, Day‑1, and Day‑2 operations.
  • Translate network designs and standards into reusable, modular automation artifacts (roles, collections, templates, and pipelines).
  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure‑as‑Code principles for network provisioning, configuration, and compliance.
CI/CD & Automation Platforms
  • Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines for network automation using tools such as GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Implement automated testing, validation, and deployment workflows for network changes (linting, pre‑checks, topology validation, config diffs).
  • Enforce version control, branching strategies, and peer review processes for all automation code.
  • Integrate automation pipelines with enterprise systems such as ITSM, IPAM, and source‑of‑truth platforms where applicable.
Standards, Quality & Governance
  • Ensure automation solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop automated configuration compliance checks and remediation workflows.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, including design standards, runbooks, and automation usage guides.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical approval for significant network or automation changes.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Serve as a technical mentor and leader for network and automation engineers.
  • Partner with operations teams to transition manual workflows into reliable, automated solutions.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with security, cloud, DevOps, and manufacturing/OT teams to deliver end‑to‑end automation.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex automation or network‑related issues.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (minimum required)
  •  7+ years of experience in network engineering within large enterprise or service provider environments.
  •  5+ years of hands‑on network automation experience, including large‑scale deployments.
  • Enterprise experience is required. Manufacturing industry experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or owning automation frameworks and standards.
Required Skills
  • Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Arista automation using AVD in production enterprise environments.
  • Advanced experience with Ansible, Python, and data models (YAML, JSON).
  • Proven expertise building and operating CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure or network automation.
  • Solid understanding of Git‑based workflows, code reviews, and release management.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise networking concepts (routing, switching, EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience working with device APIs and modern automation interfaces (eAPI, REST, gNMI, etc.).
Desired Skills
  • Experience integrating network automation with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow). 
  • Exposure to cloud networking automation (AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments.
  • Experience in manufacturing or OT network environments.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks, linting tools, and automation validation pipelines.
  • Certification for Arista Cloud Engineer (ACE): L5
Interview Process: 2 rounds - 45-minute video interviews. First round with direct manager and Architect, second round with Director. 3rd round possible if required for candidate consideration.
