Job description

A busy family in Decatur is seeking an experienced Afternoon Nanny & Family Assistant to support their household and care for their two children, ages 3 years and 21 months. The ideal candidate is warm, genuine, patient, calm, and highly dependable, with punctuality being extremely important to the family. They are looking for someone who brings positive energy, is engaging and creative with children, and can provide structure, consistency, and strong redirection when needed. The nanny should be proactive, intuitive, teachable, a strong communicator, and a true team player who can anticipate needs, read a room, and seamlessly support the family's daily routines. The children are active, curious, and love outdoor play, reading, arts and crafts, baking, imaginative play, soccer, and hands-on activities. The family values a nanny who is highly interactive, safety-conscious, and committed to fostering learning, independence, and positive behavior through active engagement.

Before the children arrive home from school between 4:30–5:00 PM, the nanny will assist with family assistant responsibilities, including family laundry, unloading and loading the dishwasher, wiping down counters, light housekeeping, meal prep support, running errands, grocery pickups, washing dishes after dinner, taking out diaper pails, stocking diaper stations, monitoring household supplies, and helping with organization projects such as toy rotations and sorting children's clothing. Once the children are home, the focus shifts to providing attentive care through engaging activities, outdoor adventures, reading, creative play, and maintaining a fun, nurturing, and structured environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional nanny who enjoys being an integral part of a family and takes pride in supporting both the children and the overall household.
