What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time Nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Nanny, you need experience in childcare, knowledge of child development, and often certifications such as CPR and first aid. Familiarity with child safety equipment, household management apps, and daily activity planning tools is typically required. Patience, reliability, and excellent communication skills help you build strong relationships with both children and parents. These abilities ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that supports children's well-being and family needs.

What Does a Full-Time Nanny Do?

Full-time nannies care for children in the children's home. They are responsible for the kid’s daily needs and activities, allowing the parents to go to work and fulfill other obligations. Nannies who work full-time log at least forty hours a week, typically during the parents' working hours. But their hours may not be regular office hours; some families have nannies come early in the morning to help with the morning rush or stay at night until the children go to bed. As a full-time time nanny, your job duties may include preparing meals, bathing and dressing the children, arranging playdates, accompanying children to activities, and helping with schoolwork. When the children are in school, full-time nannies may also help with dropping off and picking up the kids and perform light housework.

What are some common challenges a full-time nanny may face when balancing the needs of multiple children in a household?

Full-time nannies often care for siblings of different ages, which can mean juggling varying schedules, developmental milestones, and activity preferences. Managing conflicts between children, ensuring each child receives individual attention, and adapting daily routines to accommodate their unique needs can be challenging. Successful nannies use strong organizational skills, clear communication with parents, and creative problem-solving to foster a positive, nurturing environment for all children in their care.

Both roles often require similar credentials and experience, but the living situation impacts work hours and responsibilities.

What are full time nannies?

Full time nannies are professional caregivers who provide consistent, daily care for children in a family's home. Their responsibilities often include supervising children, preparing meals, engaging in educational activities, and sometimes light housekeeping related to the children. Full time nannies typically work 30-50 hours per week, depending on the family's needs. They play an important role in supporting children's development and offering reliable care while parents are at work or otherwise occupied.

Job description

Overview
ATLANTA, GA (BUCKHEAD - LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY) - A warm, close-knit family in the Kingswood neighborhood of Buckhead is seeking a FULL-TIME NANNY/HOUSEHOLD MANAGER for a long-term, live-out role beginning August 3, 2026. After more than six wonderful years with their current nanny, the family is hoping to find someone equally special to step into a trusted, lasting partnership. They are seeking a patient, kind, intelligent, and low-key professional who blends seamlessly into the home with calm energy, good judgment, and a genuine desire to help. The family will guarantee 35 hours/week of pay, even during the 6-9 weeks they travel without the nanny.
The family has two sweet and curious children: a 6-year-old daughter entering first grade and a 3-year-old son entering preschool. Both children attend school five days per week; the younger child is dismissed at 1:00 PM and the older at 3:00 PM. Afternoons are filled with extracurricular activities requiring safe, reliable transportation and thoughtful coordination. A dependable vehicle is required for school and activity transport, with mileage reimbursement to be discussed as part of the overall compensation package.
This role is a true nanny/household manager blend. Responsibilities include school pick-ups, activity coordination, cooking and meal prep for the children (and light family cooking), grocery shopping, children's laundry, daily tidying of children's rooms and play areas, closet and playroom organization, packing and unpacking for trips, and assisting with light household tasks such as unloading the dishwasher and ironing when needed. The family would especially value a nanny who is comfortable in the kitchen and can confidently contribute to weekly meal planning and grocery management, adding meaningful value to the home in this area. An "all hands on deck" approach to food, kids, and carpool is essential.
The parents are highly involved and value a peaceful, easygoing presence in their home. They are seeking a good vibes professional who is non-judgmental, steady, discreet, and drama-free, and who takes constructive feedback well while maintaining strong boundaries and professionalism. Flexibility is extremely important. The nanny must be willing to accommodate occasional overnight coverage during parent travel, both weekday and weekend, as well as weekend evening babysitting when needed. The family typically travels over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, and is away for approximately three weeks in June. Some PTO will align with family travel, and additional paid vacation time will be discussed. There is one week in Aspen annually and occasional couples' weekends, during which overnight support may be requested. During extended summer trips of approximately 10 to 14 days, the nanny will remain home.
The household includes one calm and affectionate 5-year-old golden retriever, so comfort with pets is required. An NDA will be part of the employment agreement. A flu shot is heavily preferred (though not strictly required).
The family is offering competitive compensation of $30/hr gross, commensurate with experience, paid via payroll. Benefits include industry-standard paid time off and paid holidays. Any additional benefits will be discussed with qualified candidates. The family is eager to build a long-term relationship with a steady, capable professional who truly enjoys supporting children and contributing to a well-run home.
