What are part-time nannies?

Part-time nannies are childcare professionals who work fewer hours than full-time nannies, typically providing care for children on a set schedule that may include mornings, afternoons, or a few days per week. Their responsibilities often include supervising children, preparing meals, helping with homework, and engaging in age-appropriate activities. Part-time nannies offer flexibility for families who may not need full-time care and can tailor their availability to suit the family's needs.

How does a part-time nanny typically coordinate with parents to manage children's schedules and routines?

Part-time nannies often work closely with parents to align on daily routines, school pick-ups, meal times, and extracurricular activities. Regular communication, such as daily check-ins or a shared calendar, helps ensure everyone is on the same page about expectations and any changes in the children's schedules. Nannies may also provide feedback on the child's behavior or activities, which helps parents stay informed and maintain consistency between care providers. Building this collaborative relationship is key to creating a supportive and structured environment for the children.

Is $20 an hour good for a nanny?

For a part-time nanny, $20 an hour is generally considered above average in many regions, especially for those with basic childcare skills. Rates can vary based on location, experience, and responsibilities, with more experienced nannies or those working in high-cost areas often earning higher wages.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Nanny, you need a solid understanding of child development, basic first aid, and relevant childcare experience, often supported by CPR and First Aid certifications. Familiarity with scheduling apps, communication tools, and sometimes early childhood education programs is also valuable. Patience, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills help build trust with both children and parents. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring children's safety, fostering their growth, and maintaining positive family relationships.

Job description

At Twinkle Toes Nanny Agency, every day begins with a simple mission: to help families thrive by connecting them with caregivers who bring warmth, reliability, and a genuine love for children. As our community of families continues to grow, we’re opening our doors to new nannies who want to be part of that story.

We’re looking for individuals who walk into a home with confidence, creativity, and kindness. Those who know how to make a toddler belly laugh, soothe a newborn, or keep a busy household running smoothly. If you’re someone who loves what you do and shows up with heart, we want to meet you.

We have opportunities for both full-time and part-time positions, depending on what fits your life best:

Full-time roles usually range from 30–40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. These positions are ideal for nannies looking for long-term, stable placements with consistent routines.

Part-time roles offer incredible flexibility, perfect for students, teachers, or anyone seeking meaningful work that still fits around other commitments. Whether you prefer mornings, afternoons, or a few full days each week, we strive to find the right match.

This is a flexible, as-needed position with shifts that vary based on family requests.

Candidates with newborn, infant, toddler, and school-aged experience are encouraged to apply!

Compensation:

$18 - $28 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Employ a variety of developmentally appropriate techniques.
  • Observe and get to know the child.
  • Guide the child to develop academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally.
  • Communicate with parents regularly about their child's development and experiences.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in caring for children across various age groups, from newborns to school-aged.
  • Ability to employ a variety of developmentally appropriate techniques to engage and nurture children.
  • Proven track record of guiding children to develop academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally.
  • Strong communication skills to regularly update parents on their child's development and experiences.
  • Ability to adapt to different family dynamics and household routines with ease and professionalism.
  • Reliable and punctual, ensuring consistency and trustworthiness for the families you support.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain, to ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.
