Job Summary

Castalia Systems is seeking a Senior Graphic Design/Editor. The Contractor shall use Government-specified technology to produce graphic design content, cartographic products, and interactive web content. As required, create video and audio content from still images, commercial and Government footage, and animation, product templates, and marketing content. Provide design consultation services for all Government and Contractor analysts in the DIA analytic enterprise, providing design options to best illustrate analytic assessments. Collaborate with service requesters and reach agreement on visualization concepts, designs, and timelines, with a goal of 90 percent customer survey responses indicating satisfaction. The Government uses the following suite of tools to perform work associated with intelligence visualization: Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, XD and Audition), Maya, MAPublisher, and Microsoft Office Suite. The Government also creates interactive graphics using HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Java Script, d3.js, leaflet.js, Angular, and Typescript, among other modern web languages and tools.

Roles and Responsibilities

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, maintain, and use tools to provide static visualization and/or
  • layout support for assessments submitted by DIA production offices. Static graphic content
  • shall be formatted in accordance with DIA established standards published within the DIA
  • Style Manual.
  • Develop interactive and multimedia content, to include but not limited to
  • web-based, video, and audio in support of defense intelligence needs.
  • Assist Government and Contractor analysts in the DIA analytic enterprise
  • with storyboarding their analysis for presentation in multimedia format. The Contractor shall
  • provide interactive graphics and multimedia web products to replace static pdf and print
  • graphics.
  • Develop web products leveraging dynamic content to present users
  • updated intelligence content in real time.
  • Develop web sites for the presentation of finished intelligence and for the
  • communication of analytic programs.
  • Deliver and edit audio content for the purpose of presenting finished
  • intelligence.
  • Produce templates that meet DIA design and analytic tradecraft standards,
  • suitable for all DIA product lines.
  • Responsible for researching, designing and producing thematic and reference
  • maps in support of DIA finished intelligence.
  • Implement means for determining how users interact with multimedia
  • graphics and for improving future graphics.
  • Tailor graphic design, interactive graphic development, cartographic and
  • multimedia services to accurately clarify, supplement, or complement DIA’s intelligence
  • assessments for our customers.
  • Ensure less than 10 percent of final proofs reveal major design flaws or
  • conceptual deficiencies according to Government visualization reviews (does not include flaws
  • and deficiencies caused by other production stakeholders).
  • Apply design industry standard design methodologies including, but not
  • limited to: Grid Structures, typographic Visual hierarchies, Color Theory and Gestalt.
  • Produce branding and marketing material for the Directorate of Analysis
  • in accordance with DIA graphical standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience or 12+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Salary at Castalia Systems is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, position knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $104,000.00 to $113,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Castalia Systems’ total compensation package for employees.
