What You'll Do

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide person-centered care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. You will play a key role in helping individuals achieve greater independence, build life skills, enhance community involvement, and improve their overall quality of life.

Direct Support & Daily Living Assistance
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including:
    • Personal hygiene and grooming
    • Bathing and dressing
    • Meal planning and preparation
    • Housekeeping and laundry
    • Household maintenance
    • Shopping and budgeting
  • Encourage independence, self-determination, and personal growth.
  • Promote dignity, respect, and meaningful choice.
  • Support participation in recreational, educational, vocational, and community activities.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment.
  • Provide supervision and support in accordance with individual support plans.
Health, Safety & Wellness
  • Assist in maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served.
  • Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, behavioral, or medical conditions.
  • Support healthcare and wellness plans.
  • Administer medications and complete required medication documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations using approved intervention strategies.
  • Report incidents and concerns according to agency policy.
  • Provide trauma-informed care and support.
Individualized Service & Skill Development
  • Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs), Individual Habilitation Plans (IHPs), and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Assist individuals in achieving personal goals and measurable outcomes.

  • Follow all agency, licensing, and regulatory requirements.

QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
  • Successful completion of required background checks, clearances, and drug screening.
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Behavioral Health, or a related field.
  • Six months to one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working in residential, behavioral health, or community-based settings.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications, or the ability to obtain certifications upon hire.

Schedule
  • Full-Time Opportunities Available
  • Flexible scheduling based on program needs
  • May include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and emergency coverage
  • On-call responsibilities may be required

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, transfer, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds or more as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, and climb stairs regularly.
  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility and daily living needs.
  • Ability to transport individuals safely in agency vehicles.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations.
