Job Title: Environmental Professional/Assistant Project Manager (mid-level)– Columbia/Charleston/Greenville, South Carolina

The ideal candidate will have approximately 5 years of relevant experience, including technical report writing and hands-on field work. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct field investigations, including soil, groundwater, air, and surface water sampling, drilling oversight, well installation, and remediation system monitoring.

Prepare clear, concise technical reports and documentation for regulatory and client review.

• Assist in evaluating site data, developing and updating Conceptual Site Models (CSMs), and supporting remedial design activities.
• Support project managers in planning, scheduling, and executing environmental investigation and remediation tasks.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols and quality management systems.
• Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in proposal preparation and technical presentations as needed.
• Support preparation and review of technical documents such as:
• • Work Plans
  • Uniform Federal Policy for Quality Assurance Project Plans (UFP-QAPPs)
  • Sampling and Analysis Plans
  • Remedial Investigation/RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI) Reports
  • Feasibility Studies/Corrective Measures
  • Decision Documents
  • Remedial/Corrective Measures Design packages
  • Operations & Maintenance (O&M) reports
  • Long-Term Monitoring reports

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing proficiency.
• Working knowledge of environmental sampling techniques, site characterization, and remediation technologies.
• Familiarity with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) regulations and South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Creative problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, biology, chemistry, or related field.
• Approximately 5 years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation, including field work and report writing.
• Experience supporting federal environmental projects (e.g., AFCEC, USACE, NAVFAC, EPA) is preferred.
• Ability to perform physical field work and travel as needed (typically 15–25%).
• Located in South Carolina or willing to relocate.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a solid background in environmental investigation and site characterization, with experience conducting field sampling, supporting remedial investigations, and preparing clear technical reports. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem‐solving skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and effective time‐management while supporting multiple project tasks. The candidate will be required to travel to support projects and teams located primarily in South Carolina. Candidates will be considered more favorably if they are pursuing professional licensure in the State of South Carolina (e.g., GIT, PG, EIT, or related discipline). Successful candidates will demonstrate:

• Experience supporting field activities, data evaluation, and preparation of investigation or monitoring reports.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional registration or certification (e.g., EIT, GIT, OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER).
• Candidates will be considered more favorably if they are pursuing professional licensure (PG or PE) in the State of South Carolina.
• Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) contracting and Optimized Remediation Contracts (ORCs).
• Familiarity with emerging contaminants and remediation system optimization.
• Ability to perform physical field work.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Real ID and complete required background checks to access DoD properties.

Experience:

• Environmental characterization or remediation work: 3-5 years (Required)
• Field experience such as soil, groundwater, and environmental media sampling: 3–5 years (Required)
• Technical report writing: 3–5 years (Required)
