How does this role impact First Command?
As part of the enterprise Wealth Solutions team, the Bank Solutions Product Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong partnership with First Command Bank (FCB) line of business owners for the primary purpose of creating and executing the strategic direction of the bank's financial product portfolio. This role focuses specifically on core banking products, including deposits, lending, payments, treasury management and wealth solutions across both Consumer and Business Banking verticals and represents a tremendous opportunity to play a key role in scaling and growing the Bank to successfully meet its strategic objectives. This role also collaborates closely with the Digital Banking Product Director on all product delivery channels.
The Bank Solutions Product Director partners with the FCB line of business to provide subject matter expertise on building/refining our product shelf offerings to meet target client needs. This includes, but is not limited to, product design, features and functionality, pricing, and adherence to regulatory compliance. This individual will also collaborate extensively with First Command Bank executive leadership, peer product directors within the portfolio of investment and insurance offerings, as well as operations, finance, risk, compliance, sales, marketing, and other frontline teams to maintain and enhance product performance and ensure alignment and best practice across the enterprise.
What will you do in this role?
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with FCB line of business leadership to develop and manage product strategies, value propositions, and roadmaps for assigned products (including deposits, lending, payments, etc.), to achieve the bank's strategic goals
  • Lead market analysis to identify customer needs, competitive dynamics, interest rate trends, and regulatory impacts.
  • Recommend product enhancements, new product launches, or rationalization opportunities to optimize the product portfolio.
  • Monitor product profitability, balance trends, fee income, utilization, and customer segmentation.
  • Partner with Finance to establish pricing models, rate structures, and revenue forecasts.
  • Implement actions to improve product profitability, cross-sell performance, and retention.
  • Ensure all products comply with federal and state banking regulations, including Truth in Savings, Reg Z, Reg D, UDAAP, BSA/AML considerations, and other applicable guidelines.
  • Work closely with Risk and Compliance to maintain documentation, disclosures, product governance artifacts, and audit readiness.
  • Drive product changes from concept through implementation, including business case development, requirements, pilot testing, rollout, and training.
  • Serve as product SME for advisor-facing teams, providing expertise, training, and support tools.
  • Maintain product documentation, procedures, rate sheets, and sales/marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with Operations and IT to ensure back-office processes support product requirements efficiently.
  • Partner with Marketing to position and promote financial products effectively across channels.
  • Work with field leadership, financial advisors and internal partners to ensure alignment with customer needs and field feedback.
  • Engage with outside consultants, peer groups, industry events, etc., to ensure best practices.
  • Proactively engages the CX and UX research teams for feedback data from First Command clients and other groups regarding satisfaction and experience with products (where possible).
  • Maintains strong knowledge of client and persona journeys across products and product experiences while owning a horizontal, enterprise view.

What skills and qualifications do you need?
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 10+ years experience in a Banking product management/product owner role, with demonstrated success in achieved desired objectives/strategic outcomes
  • Direct experience managing/servicing/supporting deposit, lending, payments, treasury, and/or wealth management product lines.
  • Strong knowledge of retail and commercial banking products and the regulatory frameworks applicable to each.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including experience with pricing models and profitability analysis.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and stakeholder collaboration and management skills.

Preferred
  • Banking school graduate
  • Familiarity with ALCO/interest rate/risk frameworks and balance sheet dynamics.
  • Ability to interpret and operationalize complex regulations.
  • Master's degree or industry certifications (e.g., CRCM, CFPB product-related certifications).
