Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Technician I performs repair, maintenance, and reconditioning work on Genie construction equipment owned by customers and the company. This role completes assigned mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic tasks using established procedures, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer specifications. Work is performed with increasing independence within defined job scope while following work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Production Technician I supports overall equipment reliability, preventive maintenance activities, and production flow, escalating complex issues as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform assigned repairs on Genie equipment by identifying repair needs and completing work in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Complete mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assembly and disassembly tasks within assigned scope.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and routine equipment upkeep to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Use diagnostic laptops, gauges, and instruments to identify equipment faults related to electronic, hydraulic, engine, and machine performance systems; operate equipment as required to support diagnosis and verification.
  • Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders, and build documentation to complete assigned work.
  • Participate in and support the principles of Open Book Management.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and supervision to request required parts.
  • Load and unload equipment or components as required to support production activities.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved equipment issues to the Production Supervisor or appropriate support functions.
  • Employees may perform other related duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. The frequency and duration of the duties described may vary based on production needs, equipment condition, and workflow requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment in an industrial or heavy-equipment environment.
  • Ability to use established diagnostic tools, including laptop-based software, gauges, and instruments.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders, and basic machine schematics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment requiring organization and task prioritization.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions accurately.


PREFERRED SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience repairing Genie or similar industrial equipment or mobile equipment.
  • Forklift experience or certification.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all Quality Management System (QMS) procedures applicable to assigned tasks.
  • Comply with all company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements and consistently exhibit safe work practices.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and continuous improvement objectives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily in a heavy manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, fumes, noise, oils, grease, and varying temperatures for moderate to extended periods. Occasional office or desk-based work may be required. Employees must maintain knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and follow all safety standards and PPE requirements, including safety-toe shoes, safety glasses etc...

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting 10%, standing/walking/climbing 90%. This position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this role, the employee regularly walks, stands, climbs, uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and communicates verbally.
