Job Description: Production Support Team Member

Location: Grandville, MI

Reports To: Production Manager

Interfaces With: Production, Material Handling, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering

Role Purpose

  • Support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations throughout the facility
  • Minimize equipment downtime by providing timely assistance to production work centers
  • Support production, assembly, material handling, quality, and facility activities as business needs require
  • Contribute to safety, quality, delivery, housekeeping, and continuous improvement objectives
  • Serve as a flexible resource capable of assisting multiple departments and functions

Core Accountabilities

Production Support

  • Assist Press Operators with production activities including coil changes, packaging, labeling, stacking totes, banding skids, and product handling
  • Support machine and equipment setup activities
  • Assist with machine startup and shutdown procedures
  • Operate production equipment and presses as trained and directed
  • Help maintain workflow and minimize production interruptions

Assembly Support

  • Assist with assembly operations as required to support customer demand and production schedules
  • Follow assembly work instructions, quality standards, and customer specifications
  • Assemble products, subassemblies, and components using established procedures
  • Verify components and finished assemblies meet quality requirements
  • Assist with packaging, labeling, boxing, and other value-added manufacturing activities
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and material flow within assembly areas
  • Identify and report quality concerns, missing components, or process issues to supervision

Material Handling and Facility Support

  • Assist Material Handlers with packaging, box assembly, shrink wrapping, and material movement activities
  • Assist Steel Handlers with coil loading and steel receipt verification activities
  • Empty scrap hoppers and maintain scrap collection areas
  • Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the facility
  • Replenish wash glove cabinets and maintain facility supplies

Quality Support

  • Assist with sorting, containment, rework, and other quality-related activities
  • Use gauges, fixtures, measuring devices, and inspection tools as required
  • Identify and report quality concerns, setup issues, stock alignment problems, and equipment abnormalities
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions when required

Housekeeping and Workplace Organization

  • Complete daily and weekly 5S activities
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Support facility-wide housekeeping initiatives

Systems and Documentation

  • Follow work instructions, setup documentation, quality standards, and operating procedures
  • Utilize company systems including Plex, Job Web, SmartPAC, and other manufacturing software as required
  • Accurately complete required production and operational documentation
  • Team Support and Development
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Support cross-functional activities throughout the facility
  • Assist in training team members on job duties and work processes as assigned
  • Perform other duties necessary to support customer, operational, and business requirements

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with moving machinery and equipment
  • Exposure to noise, dust, oils, grease, and varying temperatures
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • Exposure to manufacturing hazards requiring strict adherence to safety procedures

Requirements:

Required Qualifications
