Job description

The Position
The position will be responsible for purchasing, planning, inventory control and master production scheduling (MPS) activities for manufacturing operations in a build to order environment.
Responsibilities
  • Develop valid, feasible production schedules for finished goods and component items based on equipment, labor and raw material availability.
  • Provide daily production schedules to manufacturing for finished goods and build-to-stock subassemblies.
  • Coordinate intercompany movements of materials/products
  • Drive material demand for Purchasing, monitoring availability of purchased items to ensure support of production schedules.
  • Manage the purchasing function to include leveraging the functionalized commodity structure, identifying alternate vendors and purchasing high volume items and materials.
  • Working with the Operations Director, negotiate site unique pricing and develop cost benefit analysis’ and make buy assessments with the commodity sourcing structure.
  • Working in a dual role as a Senior Buyer, execute daily purchasing tasks to ensure timely and accurate support of production needs at both factories.
  • Determine customer order ship dates (order promising) based on material availability/lead times, current production schedules and capacities. Resolve conflicts to support target ship dates.
  • Lead Operational Effort to reduce inventories while maintaining customer service levels
  • Maintain an accurate capacity plan and material forecast to ensure production readiness and customer fulfillment.
  • Review New Product Introductions, and Promotion calendar to ensure that Supply Chain can support all program requirements.
  • Interact frequently with sales, marketing, Supply Chain, Operations and manufacturing personnel to accomplish objectives.
  • Effectively utilize the Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) in performance of duties and responsibilities. Maintain accurate and timely information in the system as it pertains to the master scheduling function.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years professional experience in discrete manufacturing planning, scheduling and purchasing using formal MRP-Supply Chain Planning and ERP system (preferably Oracle) with 2 years of leadership experience required.
  • Heavy exposure or direct experience in material planning, purchasing and inventory management required.
  • APICS certification highly desirable.
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.

Education
  • Bachelor degree with emphasis in Business or Technical field required.
