Purpose

An Order Selector is responsible for accurately picking and preparing customer order materials in advance of a production line shift schedule. The position will work in a warehouse and production environment, ensuring materials inventory is brought to the production lines timely and efficiently to meet daily customer order demands while maintaining safety, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order Selectors play a crucial role in warehouse and production operations, performing tasks such as selecting products from shelves, packing them securely, and preparing them for production and ultimately shipment
  • Reading and interpreting customer orders accurately to locate the correct items
  • Picking and stacking products on pallets, ensuring the correct quantity and type of items
  • Operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, to bring materials to the production lines
  • Performing inventory management tasks, including tracking stock movement, conducting physical counts, and reporting discrepancies
  • Inspecting products for quality and damage before shipment to maintain high standards
  • Labeling, wrapping, and preparing orders for shipment, including applying special packaging like ice or dry ice when required
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, following all safety procedures and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors and coworkers to ensure smooth inventory supply, warehouse and production operations as necessary

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or similar role is advantageous
  • Ability to operate warehouse machinery safely, including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy to prevent errors in order fulfillment
  • Physical fitness to handle lifting and moving heavy items, often ranging from 40–100 pounds
  • Basic literacy and communication skills to read orders and follow instructions
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices and warehouse operations
