Job description

Job Summary:

Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in the processing of materials and manufacturing products to a quality standard that meets the needs of the customer; purchasing and the timely delivery of raw materials from supplier; delivery of the product to schedule established by the customer, by performing the following duties personally or through direct reports

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for assigned Production Department management to attain plant, business unit and corporate objectives.

Promotes, emphasizes, and enforces the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions within the facility.

Develops production plan, directs production activities, and establishes priorities to assure optimum use of equipment, smooth product flow and timely shipment of parts to the customer.

Develops a manufacturing plan for future operating periods by forecasting customer needs, taking into account current inventory levels and labor availability.

Maintains good communication to expedite the flow of information to all departments so adequate planning of equipment downtime and maintenance does not negatively impact the production needs of the facility.

Leads the maintenance team to ensure proper planning, priorities, and production support.

Directs the activities of the Shipping/Receiving Department to assure proper inventory levels of both raw materials and finished good are maintained and proper storage provided thereof staging for on-time delivery to the customer.

Assures customer service satisfaction by providing communication on changes in manufacturing, shipping and/or delivery of quality product.

Compiles, stores, retrieves, and communicates production KPIs. Including OLE, Scrap, Inventory, and spending performance.

Establishes and maintains excellent labor/management relations.  Oversees fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures to assist us in a union free environment.

 

Education, Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from four year college or university, or 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external); Fosters quality focus in others; Improves processes, products and services.

Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Contributes to building a positive team spirit;

able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.

Understands business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability; demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with strategic goals.

Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals; understands organization's strengths & weaknesses; analyzes market and competition; identifies external threats and opportunities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to to a normal office environment and occasionally required to walk through a plant environment.  The employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and peripheral vision.
