Job Purpose:
The Value Stream Manager is responsible for daily operations of assigned value stream with overall responsibility for production and production-related activities. Ensure output of assigned areas meet production schedule, quality standards, and cost objectives.
The Value Stream Manager will coach and mentor Value Stream Supervisors, production supervisors, and overall production team. Collaborate with other functions including Quality, Safety, R&D, maintenance, customer service to ensure organizational goals are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all legislated and relevant laws and regulations for safety and quality including lockout tag out, GMP, HACCP, Allergen and Blommer specific policies and procedures.
  • Set goals with team, evaluate, and communicate status during regular progress reports with management providing ongoing feedback to help develop skill and meet organizational and departmental goals.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, set a positive tone in the area, address conflicts or complaints, review production needs, goals, and seek resolution for issues. Engage staff in problem solving, utilizing process improvement/lean manufacturing tools.
  • Ensure area training completed for new hires, on new or revised SOP procedures, and all compliance policy reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve downtime issues. Work with supervisory team, operators, engineering, maintenance, sanitation to coordinate repair and work orders to minimize downtime and equipment failures.
  • Address any non-conformance including violations of safety, HAACP, GMP, allergens, plant policies. Report out on incident, investigation, and corrective action plans.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics. Meet with Value Stream Supervisors and leads to review performance against goals.
  • Execute and maintain labor and R&M department budgets year over year.
  • Prepare and maintain operations data including metrics. Report out on production discussing issues that impacted production.
  • Assist in hiring process, interview candidates.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with customer standards, safety/OSHA and quality standards/HACCP and GMP standards
  • Operate within the Blommer core values of respect and care for others

  • Manage product operation with a high set of standards to produce consistent, quality-driven results
  • Ensures work hours and schedules, timely attendance, and notice requirements for absences or lateness are met

  • Instill a culture of leadership and engagement of team to achieve performance expectations
  • Knowledge and understanding of production operations and machinery
  • Ability to problem solve independently and implement solutions, prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate

Skills and Work Experience Requirements:
  • Five (5+) years' experience in manufacturing operations and business management, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Five (5+) years' experience in leadership/management role.
  • Five (5+) years' experience utilizing CI, lean systems, tools, programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong safety and quality background
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite abilities to complete reports and logs
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
