Job description

Plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing process of panels and trim as well as oversee activities of shipping & receiving and maintenance departments. Supervise, motivate, and support the staff, applying a team approach and maintaining open positive communication.ย 

Essential Functions
  • Effectively manage production, shipping and receiving, and maintenance departments.ย ย 
  • Effectively manage and control efficient and cost-effective production processes from scheduling to delivery of goods in coordination with department leaders.ย ย 
  • Control production schedule to optimize production run time, maximize profits, and ensure customer service excellence.ย ย 
  • Maintain and improve production processes to minimize scrap and misfab ratios as well as maintaining desired quality of goods produced.ย ย 
  • Supervise and motivate production workers to ensure employee satisfaction, efficiency, productivity, and morale. Manage employee training, performance, development, and progression. Effectively lead the plant team.ย 
  • Continuously improve plant performance and quality by implementing efficient and cost-effective concepts, techniques, and processes.ย ย 
  • Communicate effectively and ensure all staff is communicating effectively with all other departments. Foster a team atmosphere and culture throughout the plant. Ensure that the production process is efficient and cost effective.ย ย 
  • Continuously and effectively evaluate, devise, recommend, and implement improvements to all processes, procedures, and practices to ensure and further improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost.ย 
  • Monitor and facilitate production processes according to volume and adjust schedules as needed.ย ย 
  • Work with management team to implement the company's policies and goals.ย ย 
  • Optimize labor hours to maximize productivity and production ratiosย 
  • Approve hours of production employees and submit accurate data to Human Resources department.ย ย 
  • Ensure Federal and State labor laws are followed for plant workers.ย ย 
  • Ensure plant floor is always neat.ย ย 
  • Plan, prioritize and delegate work tasks to ensure efficient, effective, and successful function of the department.ย ย 
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve quality of service, productivity, and profitability.ย ย 
  • Perform or ensure timely performance reviews with production, shipping and receiving, and maintenance team.ย 
  • Assign coils to jobs daily.ย 
  • Communicate and coordinate with Customer Service and Purchasing to optimize production quantity, quality, and efficiency.ย 
  • Produce reports top management as prudent and assigned.ย 
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week between the hours of 4am - 8pm plus any overtime that is needed for the effective operation of the plant and management of staff.ย 
  • Completes training by supervisor.
  • Complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Safety Functions

  • Sit on Safety Committee.ย 
  • Lead safety programs ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations based on plant location and best practices. States: California / Arkansas.ย 
  • Develop, implement, review, monitor, and maintain safety policies, practices and procedures in compliance with governmental regulations including Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations including, but not limited to, OSHA.ย 
  • Plan and lead daily/weekly/monthly safety meetings.ย 
  • Lead in identification, analysis, and control of occupational and process safety hazards to minimize incidents.ย 
  • Lead and/or participate in internal and external audits and inspections.ย 
  • Manage and support companywide safety improvement efforts.ย 
  • Create and conduct safety related training.ย 
  • Manage the implementation and effective application of safety practices, including the utilization of safety equipment and devices in a manufacturing environment.ย 
  • Provide consultation and recommendations for physical changes in the facility.ย 
  • Prepare reports, conduct safety briefings, be the company spokesperson for all safety issues, and research and answer all safety questions and concerns.ย 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or as needed.ย

Education and Experience

  • BA or BS degree preferred, with two plus years of experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of industry related experience or training.
  • Must maintain appropriate forklift certifications.
  • At least three years managing teams. Good leadership abilities; experience supervising, coaching, and disciplining employees.
  • Strong knowledge of plant operations and Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing principles; focused on delivering results.
  • Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop employees.
  • Ability to interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and other general software programs.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing.ย 
  • Lift up to 35 lbs.ย 
  • Effectively read, write, speak, and communicate in English fluently.ย 
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, crouch, lean, and other physical movements for extended periods of time.ย 
  • Work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, dust, etc.ย 
  • Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse to complete necessary functions assigned.ย 
Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant.
