Job Title: Food Production Manager
Location: West Philadelphia, PA
Facility Type: Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

Schedule:

  • Full-time position with alternating weekends and holidays required.

  • Flexibility to work early morning (starting at 5:00am) and evening shifts (kitchen closes at 8:00pm).

Position Summary

The Food Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food production, sanitation, and staff management within a unionized workforce. This role ensures all meals are prepared to the highest standards of quality, safety, and consistency while maintaining compliance with healthcare dietary regulations.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who can motivate and manage a diverse team, implement efficient workflows, and maintain a collaborative relationship with both staff and administration.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations across all shifts.

  • Oversee food production to guarantee meals meet nutritional, safety, and quality standards.

  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and compliance with state and federal health regulations.

  • Schedule and coordinate staffing to ensure proper coverage during operating hours (5:30am – 8:00pm).

  • Manage and resolve union workforce concerns in accordance with labor agreements.

  • Monitor inventory, minimize waste, and support cost-effective purchasing practices.

  • Collaborate with dietary and clinical teams to meet resident needs and preferences.

  • Maintain documentation for compliance, inspections, and audits.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare food service management role.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing union employees preferred.

  • Knowledge of healthcare dietary guidelines, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including alternating weekends and holidays.

  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety credential required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or Nutrition preferred.
