Production Manager 

Harper, KS – Direct Hire

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our customer’s team at their facility in Harper, KS. As a member of the team, the selected candidate will be a Production Manager who is results-driven in this role and responsible for overseeing our manufacturing operations and ensuring that production processes run reliably and efficiently. This role is responsible for managing resources, executing production schedules, achieving quality standards, and optimizing productivity within our facility. As the Production Manager, this position is responsible for all factory floor supervisors, including inventory control, maintenance, and night shift foreman.

This is a direct hire position for our customers with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within their organization. 


Duties:

  • Manage all production supervisors, empowering them to fully operate, lead, and develop their departments with a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Plan, coordinate, and regulate manufacturing processes to ensure products are produced on time and meet quality standards.
  • Committed to the adherence of health and safety regulations and company standards.
  • Stay abreast of the latest manufacturing technologies and processes through continuing education, industry engagement and vendor relations.
  • Monitor production processes and schedule adherence, appropriately dispatching and assigning resources to respond to disruptions or bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with scheduling and planning to secure and align production schedules with customer demands and organizational goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring dispatch reports are followed and operations for jobs are completed timely and accurately.
  • Support all factory floor supervisors and HR with hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating performance, and providing continuous coaching for all production labor.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, IT, scheduling and planning, and engineering teams to resolve issues and ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure that completed product satisfies the quality standards as defined.
  • Manage expense budgets, manufactured parts inventory, and production costs to ensure cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Work alongside manufacturing engineers to develop workspaces, tools, instructions, maintenance plans, and more.
  • Administer continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, 5S, etc.) to drive operational efficiency.
  • Define annual efficiency improvement opportunities and outline achievable KPIs.
  • Develop a business case and clear ROI to support prospective projects.
  • Oversee clocking and operations, implementing processes to ensure consistent direct labor success and costing accuracy.
  • Responsible for inventory management, including the processes that support accuracy of levels (processing of jobs, scrap, material usage, move tickets, clocking, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production or operations management within a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience in managing teams.
  • Adept problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Highly dependent on systems and data for developing strategy and execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and operating processes in ERP systems (preferably Syteline or Infor product).
  • Proactive written and verbal communication skills, as well as inquisitive listening skills.
  • Basic understanding of reading and interpreting engineering prints and familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T, ASME Y14.5).
  • Forklift certified or the ability to obtain HII Forklift Certification.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience in managing teams.
  • Adept problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Highly dependent on systems and data for developing strategy and execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and operating processes in ERP systems (preferably Syteline or Infor product).
  • Proactive written and verbal communication skills, as well as inquisitive listening skills.
  • Basic understanding of reading and interpreting engineering prints and familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T, ASME Y14.5).
