Job Summary:

A Production Internโ€™s primary responsibilities are to learn to complete tasks that are basic skills required for Finish, Shipping, and Assembly associates. Some of these tasks are explained below. Interns are also expected to be punctual, attentive, to learn to become adaptable in a fast-paced work environment, and to learn to maintain safety standards in accordance with OSHA and company policies/procedures.ย 

ย Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Duties vary depending on which department/team Associateโ€™s been assigned to. Adaptability to the environment here and the current production demands is essential.
    • DEPARTMENTS: Machining/Mill/Panel Line; Finish (Sanding/Scuffing, Flat Line, Spray, Wipe Stain), Kitting/Cart Check, Specialty, Receiving, Assembly/Hardware, Final Inspection, Shipping/Loading Trucks/Wrapping
      • SHIPPING: Learn to properly wrap all parts of cabinets to ensure quality is maintained through shipping transit.
      • FINISH: Learn correct and safe wood sanding and wood handling techniques that will help us provide quality workmanship to our customers.
      • ASSEMBLY: Learn correct assembly/cutting/other techniques, depending on the area of production.
  • Learn to perform quality checks on their own work toย ensure their work meets our quality specifications, prior to the work moving to the next step in the manufacturing process.
  • Learn to maintain accurate records/production logs and records of units produced/errors.
  • Learn to inspect their equipment prior to use to ensure proper set up, alignment, and cleanliness; learn to perform basic and routine adjustments, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Learn to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area that meets standards in accordance with OSHA and company procedures.
  • Learn to follow all procedures and rules in accordance with the Employee Handbook and Standards of Practice.
  • Learn to ensure quality levels are met.
  • Other production duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
  • Desire to develop strong communication skills, and a desire to develop the ability to find and subsequently report any issues with equipment or quality concerns to supervision.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged/extended periods of time standing while working, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
