Production Control Specialist

Reports To:
Production Control Manager

Position Summary:
The Production Control Specialist plays a key role in aligning material planning, production scheduling, and inventory control efforts across the organization. This position acts as a bridge between departments-such as operations, engineering, and sales-to ensure that customer demands are met with timely and efficient production outputs. The role requires strong data analysis capabilities, supply chain awareness, and collaboration to maintain optimal inventory levels and streamline production processes. Prior experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment is highly valued.


Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Inventory Management

  • Plan and coordinate material requirements to support production schedules.

  • Set and manage optimal inventory levels for raw materials and work-in-progress items.

  • Analyze data to ensure accurate stock records and timely order fulfillment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, warehouse, purchasing, and quality teams to support demand planning and inventory accuracy.

  • Participate in production meetings to forecast material needs and support continuous workflow.

  • Assist with physical inventory processes, cycle counts, and year-end reconciliation efforts.

System Oversight & Reporting

  • Utilize ERP systems and digital tools to maintain real-time accuracy in material and inventory tracking.

  • Prepare and distribute inventory reports, including usage, variances, and shrinkage analysis.

  • Use dashboards or visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) to communicate trends and potential issues to stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Quality Support

  • Identify opportunities for improving inventory accuracy and production efficiency.

  • Support safety and quality initiatives across the production and warehouse teams.

  • Help resolve discrepancies through root cause analysis and collaboration with internal teams.


Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing.

  • Minimum of 3 years in a production planning, supply chain, or warehouse-related role.

  • Solid understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Power BI and SharePoint is a plus.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex data and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Previous experience in the steel, automotive, or forging industry is advantageous.


Working Environment:
