Job description

Local material handling and storage innovator is looking for a dedicated Product Design Engineer to join the team to help support the organization's rapid growth. This role will focus on leading product design and development throughout the product lifecycle and help bridge engineering, operations, and manufacturing. Heavy collaboration across internal and external teams to translate customer and business requirements into practical engineering solutions, and ensure products meet standards, and support efficient manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and improve new and existing products to meet customer, quality, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and related technical documentation.
  • Use CAD and other engineering tools to develop concepts, models, and design changes.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, product testing, validation, and design reviews.
  • Analyze product performance, identify root causes of issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and project teams to support product launches and ongoing production.
  • Support process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and product standardization efforts.
  • Ensure products comply with applicable standards, regulations, and internal quality requirements.
  • Provide technical support for production, suppliers, and customers as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance product reliability, efficiency, and value.

Requirements
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 3 or more years experience in a product and design engineering role with product development, testing, validation responsibilities
  • Prior experience with FEA, ANSI standards in product design/development applications
  • Practical working knowledge of metal fabrication processes/capabilities, tolerances, and principles of manufacturing
  • Experience evaluating and implementing standard engineering processes and documentation practices
  • Familiarity with quality & inspection processes/standards
  • Strong detail orientation and highly analytical
  • Flexible mindset, comfortable managing multiple and shifting priorities
  • Comfortably, effectively communicate across internal teams, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work in an on site/in office environment full time

Preferred:
  • Some prior experience in each a manufacturing engineering role
  • Experience supporting products from concept through production launch.
  • Prior experience managing vendors and establishing vendor standards
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, cost reduction, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience with prototype development, testing, and design validation.
