Job description

Steel Craft Corporation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Product Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of products throughout their lifecycle. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to move innovative products from concept to production while meeting customer expectations, quality standards, and cost objectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design and development of new products.
  • Create product specifications, prototypes, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Use CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA to develop product designs and simulations.
  • Plan and conduct product testing to verify performance, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze test results and make necessary design improvements.
  • Manage products from initial concept through production and end-of-life.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and production-ready.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to select materials, manage availability, and control costs.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs and market requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs through material substitutions and design optimization without compromising quality.
  • Troubleshoot product design, manufacturing, and quality concerns.
  • Prepare and maintain specifications, engineering change orders, test reports, and other technical documentation.
  • Ensure products comply with applicable industry standards and certifications, including CE, UL, and ISO requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of experience in product design, engineering, product development, or a related area.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA.
  • Strong understanding of material science, manufacturing processes, product testing, and quality-control standards.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position works primarily in a general office environment and may occasionally enter production areas where noise, dust, metal debris, and temperature changes may be present. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn when required.

The employee must be able to occasionally stand, walk, and lift or carry up to 10 pounds. The position also requires approximately one day of local travel per week to collaborate with teams and support projects across multiple facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.

Experience and/or Training: 
•    2 years of engineering experience.

•    Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.

Education:       
Experience and/or Training: 
•    Experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Familiarity with GD&T, FMEA, and Lean principles.
