Job description

Summary
ID Sculpture designs and manufactures climbing boulders, playground sculptures, and fine art sculptures for parks, schools, and public spaces across the country. We use a combination of technology and traditional methods to create unique interactive environments.
IDS provides secure, year-round indoor and outdoor work in a unique Design and fabrication environment with opportunity for travel and room for advancement. Ideal candidates possess a positive attitude, good work ethic and are eager to learn. Applicants must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance. Initial responsibilities are to provide general labor and assist artists, fabricators and shipping departments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. The Design Technician uses specific skill sets to support preproduction, design, and sales with specific tasks in drafting, modeling, rendering, documentation, and product management.
  2. Supports Product Manager with maintaining and improving product libraries.
  3. Manage data and maintain product fidelity across the website and catalog.
  4. Assist in the development and proliferation of standard details across product groups.
  5. Track and document product version history.
  6. Identify assembly conflicts and flag for review.
  7. Create 2D drawings from 3D model objects that conform to IDS drawing standards.
  8. Rendering of 3D objects and scenes for graphic presentation
  9. Support Project Manager by assisting in the development of project submittals as needed.
  10. Support Sales Manager and Design Manager with product/project design requests.
  11. Create production files for sandblast masks and plaques.
  12. Review products for compliance with ASTM 1487 and escalate issues as necessary.
  13. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  14. Protect and promote the culture of IDS.

Education and/or Experience
  • Mechanical/structural engineering or architecture degree preferred, or 2 year's experience in the same.
  • Prior manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) is a plus.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have computer skills and be proficient in productivity and modelling applications. Relevant software includes Rhinoceros, ArchiCAD, Freeform, Adobe Suite, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office.
