Job description

Job Title: Product Quality Manager

Department: Quality

Reports To: Senior Manager Quality and Systems


Summary

The Product Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products meet or exceed the company’s quality and reliability expectations through the management of daily inspection activities and the oversight of the Quality Management System. This role blends hands‑on inspection leadership with broader quality system ownership. The Product Quality Manager leads the inspection team, manages incoming/in‑process/final inspections, drives nonconformance investigations, supports continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with IPC, ISO, and mil‑spec standards.

The role serves as the primary quality liaison to Operations, Engineering, and suppliers, ensuring real‑time alignment between production priorities, inspection readiness, and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop QA Specialists and Inspectors; manage daily workflow and priorities.
  • Oversee and participate in incoming, in‑process, FAI, and final inspections for electro‑mechanical assemblies.
  • Ensure proper use of inspection plans, work orders, specifications, IPC standards, and engineering documentation.
  • Validate accuracy of inspection results and ensure timely documentation.
  • Lead the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), including procedures, document control, and audit readiness.
  • Lead internal audits; support compliance with ISO9001, IPC‑A‑610/620, and applicable mil‑
  • Manage nonconformances, lead root‑cause investigations, and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Lead cross‑functional quality improvement efforts focused on defect reduction, process capability, and inspection effectiveness.
  • Present quality metrics, inspection performance data, and systemic improvement plans to leadership.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, inspection method upgrades, and workflow efficiencies.
  • May require some overtime based on production needs.
  • Must love guns.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manages the day-to-day activities of the Quality team.
  • Direct oversight of QA Specialists and Inspectors.
  • Responsible for scheduling, tasking, training, and performance development.


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3–5 years of experience in electro‑mechanical inspection, leadership, or related roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC‑A‑610/620, ISO9001, and mil‑spec quality practices.
  • Experience managing QMS activities including document control, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to use and teach precision measurement tools and calibration requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills, data‑driven approach, and experience in root‑cause and corrective action methodology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.

EXPORT CONTROL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with ISO and mil-spec standards.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Strong English language skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, standards, customer requirements, and audit criteria.
  • Ability to present information clearly to all levels from executive leadership to hourly cross‑functional teams.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to interpret data, define issues, and implement solutions.
  • Understanding of basic statistics, sampling theory, and measurement analysis preferred.
