Job description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Product Engineer for Heating and Cooling Coils supports product engineering by providing detailed product design and technical support, including special modifications, quality improvements, and cost reductions. This role involves hands-on engineering tasks, requiring minimal supervision, and the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks independently and as part of project teams. The engineer may also lead small project teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Product Engineer will lead or support projects and provide technical support through the following activities:

  • Identify and implement product improvements and cost-out opportunities for heating and cooling coils.
  • Provide guidance on product configuration and documentation, structure, and development.
  • Support the submittal generation process.
  • Define and implement best practices for product engineering documentation and activities to promote standardization across engineering functions.
  • Improve engineering processes to increase productivity and quality of deliverables.
  • Provide technical support for marketing, applications, sales, manufacturing, and operational excellence departments.
  • Offer technical support for manufacturing plants for product orders with special customer requirements.
  • Address and resolve corrective actions to standard documentation.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate and qualify alternative suppliers, supporting targeted cost reduction and quality improvement projects.
  • Independently write Engineering Change Notices to communicate design and documentation changes.
  • Travel periodically to manufacturing facilities or job sites to investigate and resolve design issues.
  • Participate in New Product Development (NPD) project teams as needed, ensuring a smooth design transition from NPD to product engineering.
  • Provide training for product engineering and other departments in areas of expertise.

NATURE AND SCOPE
The Product Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering. As part of the Product Engineering Team, the engineer will interact extensively with product applications, operations, and corporate manufacturing teams. There will be occasional interaction with new product development, research and development, operational excellence, and sales & marketing.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project engineering or project management, preferably in HVAC or related industries.
  • Strong project management skills, with proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to heating and cooling systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds may be required.
  • Travel may be required, both domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the time.

BAC Hiring Compensation Range $63,500-$108,800
