Product Manager / Multifamily Business Development Manager
BlueLinx - Quad Cities (Davenport/Milan Market)
Position Summary
BlueLinx is seeking a highly motivated and growth-oriented Product Manager / Multifamily Business Development Manager to help accelerate strategic growth initiatives throughout the Quad Cities and surrounding markets.
This role combines ownership of key specialty product categories with responsibility for developing and growing BlueLinx's Multifamily business. The individual will work closely with Territory Managers, vendors, contractors, developers, and internal product teams to drive profitable sales growth, launch new product categories, strengthen vendor relationships, and expand BlueLinx's presence within the multifamily construction segment.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Management
Serve as the local product leader for strategic growth categories, including:
• Siding
• Trim
• Decking
• Railing
• Weatherization Products
• Barricade Housewrap
• Barricade Underlayment
Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Developing profitable growth plans for assigned product categories.
• Managing vendor relationships and identifying market opportunities.
• Supporting product launches and new category introductions.
• Providing product expertise, training, and technical support to sales teams and customers.
• Working with pricing, inventory, and supply chain teams to optimize product performance.
• Driving increased product penetration, profitability, and market share.
Multifamily Business Development:
Act as Davenport's lead Multifamily Business Development Manager by:
• Building relationships with multifamily contractors, developers, owners, architects, and general contractors.
• Conducting customer visits, project site visits, and business-development calls.
• Identifying and pursuing new multifamily opportunities.
• Coordinating project quotations and RFQs with vendors and internal teams.
• Partnering with Territory Managers to expand market share and strengthen dealer relationships.
• Collaborating with BlueLinx's national Multifamily team on best practices and project opportunities.
• Attending industry events and networking functions to develop new business opportunities.
• Creating and executing account growth plans for key multifamily customers.

• Increased sales and gross profit within assigned product categories.
• Successful introduction and adoption of new product lines.
• Growth in multifamily project opportunities and conversions.
• Strong vendor partnerships and increased market penetration.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 4+ years of experience in building materials, product management, outside sales, business development, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of construction products, distribution, and contractor sales channels.
• Experience calling on builders, contractors, dealers, architects, developers, or multifamily customers.
• Proven ability to develop relationships and identify growth opportunities.
• Strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments.
• Experience with siding, trim, decking, weatherization, or exterior building products is strongly preferred but not required
