About the role

The Director, Investment Product Development and Management is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the end‑to‑end lifecycle of investment products at ATB Investment Management Inc (ATBIM). This individual, in partnership with multiple cross‑functional teams, will lead strategic product initiatives from initial ideation and business case development to market launch and ongoing lifecycle management.

Accountabilities
  • Product Strategy & Development
    • Business Case Leadership: Lead the development and presentation of robust business cases for new investment product launches.
    • Market Intelligence: Conduct in‑depth analysis of Canadian and global investment markets to identify key trends, growth drivers, and competitive gaps.
    • Initiative Management: Drive and manage multiple product‑oriented initiatives, ensuring all workstreams—compliance, legal, and operational infrastructure—are aligned and meet established deadlines.
    • Collaborative Execution: Adopt a partnership‑driven strategy to achieve all defined project timelines.
    • Client‑Centric Content: Bring forward the voice of the client/advisor to the material created in partnership with our principal distributor and the sales distribution team.
  • Content Excellence & SME Leadership
    • Content Generation: Directly author clear and compelling product positioning, value propositions, and benefit statements for all investment solutions.
    • Internal Coordination: Proactively engage with subject matter experts across research and portfolio management to obtain and validate data for product materials, ensuring full ownership of final outputs.
    • Sales Enablement: Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to create effective messaging and advisor training materials that articulate the unique benefits of our products.
  • Management & Stakeholder Alignment
    • Project Oversight: Support the management of the product development roadmap, ensuring transparency and providing regular status updates to senior leadership.
    • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between Portfolio Management, Sales, Marketing, Compliance, and Legal to ensure products remain competitive and compliant.
    • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external service providers while bringing technical expertise in‑house to improve efficiency.
Skills, experience & requirements
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in investment product development, management, or research.
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field; CFA designation or other relevant industry designation preferred.
  • Deep expertise in diverse asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, and Alternative Investments.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and platforms such as Morningstar Direct, eVestment, or Bloomberg.
  • Exceptional written skills with a proven ability to translate complex investment concepts into market‑ready narratives.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across diverse cross‑functional teams, fostering strong partnerships to achieve collective goals and drive project success.
