Job description

Title: Electrical Engineer - Embedded Systems & Product Development

Location: Houston, TX

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detailed-oriented Electrical Engineer to support the development, testing, certification, and production of electronic products. The ideal candidate will have experience with embedded systems, PCB design, troubleshooting, product support throughout the product lifecycle and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and support electronic hardware and embedded systems.
  • Create and maintain PCB schematics and layouts using Altium.
  • Develop and troubleshoot embedded firmware (C preferred).
  • Test, debug, and validate electrical products using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test equipment.
  • Support product compliance activities, including CE certification.
  • Assist with new product introduction and transfer to manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and support existing products.
  • Evaluate product lifecycle needs, including redesign and replacement recommendations.
  • Review component datasheets and work with electronic component vendors.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and product specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in related field.
  • Experience with embedded systems and embedded C programming.
  • Knowledge of PCB schematics and layout design using Altium Designer.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment, including oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for hardware and firmware.
  • Understanding of electronic components, datasheets, and vendor selection.
  • Experience with product compliance and certification processes (CE preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Soldering and basic PCB repair skills.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and new product introductions.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Altium Designer experience.
  • Embedded C programming.
  • Experience with product compliance and certification processes.
  • Manufacturing and new product introduction experience.
