Starting Salary: From $80,000 per year

Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer I to support the development and enhancement of electrical power distribution equipment. This role will contribute to product design, engineering documentation, testing, and technical support while working with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and compliant electrical solutions.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with a strong electrical engineering foundation who enjoys hands-on problem solving, product development, and power systems design.

Responsibilities
Electrical Design
  • Design electrical systems and components for power distribution equipment.
  • Select electrical components and assist with thermal design, mechanical packaging concepts, and interconnection hardware.
  • Design switchboard power and control circuits.
  • Apply knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, magnetics, and thermal management.
  • Develop engineering specifications for power protection products.
Documentation & Product Development
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Prepare technical reports, manufacturing documentation, and test procedures.
  • Support the integration and qualification of third-party devices within power distribution systems.
  • Participate in hardware design reviews to verify product performance and reliability.
Testing & Engineering Support
  • Provide engineering support for new and existing power protection products.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, assemblies, and subsystems.
  • Assist with product safety certifications and compliance activities, including UL, CSA, and IEC standards.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software.
  • Experience designing power distribution equipment, including:
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
    • Static Transfer Switches (STS)
    • Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
    • Switchboards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using electrical engineering test equipment, including:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Network analyzers
    • Signal generators
  • Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and power distribution.
  • Strong troubleshooting and laboratory skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and technical documentation abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
