Job description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of fall protection and safety products. This role combines hands-on engineering with product development activities including concept creation, prototyping, testing, manufacturing support, and technical documentation. The engineer collaborates with internal teams, international suppliers, and testing organizations to ensure products meet performance requirements, regulatory standards, and customer needs.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can manage multiple projects simultaneously while driving products from concept through production.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Design and engineer fall protection and safety products.

· Create and update CAD models, drawings, and design files.

· Work with international vendors, engineers, and testing facilities on prototypes and production samples.

· Support product testing and help prepare technical data for manuals, labels, and other materials.

· Assist with improving product performance, durability, and usability.

· Help maintain documentation for product designs and revisions.

· Provide technical support to internal teams and customers when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, equivalent experience will be considered.

· 2 to 5 years of experience in product development or product design, with a solid understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes.

· CAD and design experience (Autodesk Inventor preferred).

· Ability to learn and operate design and prototyping equipment, including sewing machines, 3D printers, load cells, and similar tools.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Ability to communicate clearly with customers and team members.

· Willingness to learn OSHA and ANSI fall protection regulations.

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while taking direction from the Product Development Manager.
