Description:
As a Product Design Engineer, you are considered a go-to expert in one area within Product Design, demonstrating engineering expertise through user- or consumer-focused product influence in multiple cross-functional areas. You participate in a greater team initiative (e.g., publishing technical documents, creating/improving processes/standards, teaching design classes). You own a user or consumer product design area/material/component/system of high complexity, or several user or consumer product design areas/components/systems of moderate complexity. Note: In accordance with regional legislation, in certain locations the job title for this role might be 'Developer' or 'Consultant' rather than 'Engineer'.
Responsibilities include:
- Apply engineering fundamentals, analyze data, and implement findings at the product level. May solve complex mission-critical issues.
- Demonstrates Design expertise through user
- or consumer-focused product influence in an aesthetic area (e.g., Industrial Design, User Experience, Graphical Artwork, Human Factors, CMF, usability/serviceability) where applicable.
- Execute work independently, identify and communicate program roadblocks.
- Provide guidance to and may mentor junior engineers. Actively participate in design reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Regularly demonstrate unique/innovative system-level solutions.
- Demonstrate deep technical knowledge in multiple areas to deliver high-quality and reliable mass-production user or consumer products (e.g., sheet metal, machining, anodization, injection molding, coatings, raw materials, packaging, thermals, FEA).
- May present to management and cross-functional management.
- Anticipate and address product design issues or risks. Ensure validation of product design and implement design improvement.
Minimum role qualifications requirement:
- 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
- 5 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
Pay Range: $95 - $105/hour on W2
The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
