Job description

The Position:

Join us at Contech Engineered Solutions, where we’re building the future of stormwater treatment solutions. As a Product Development Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation—designing, developing, and testing new products that directly impact environmental sustainability and water quality. From concept through commercialization, your work will help shape technologies that make a difference.

About the role:

  • Lead and contribute to engineering design projects from ideation to production.
  • Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and cost estimates.
  • Perform feasibility assessments, prototyping, testing, and design for manufacturability as part of New Product Development (NPD).
  • Collaborate across teams to optimize product performance and profitability.
  • Build and test working prototypes, perform technical calculations, and collect data for analysis.
  • Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies in stormwater and adjacent markets.
  • Support intellectual property management and patent research.
  • Travel occasionally (up to 10%) for testing, field visits, or vendor collaboration.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
  • 2+ years of experience in product design and development (5+ preferred).
  • Hands-on, creative mindset with strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar), plus Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, and vendor sourcing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with hydraulics, CFD modeling, or stormwater/environmental systems.
  • Familiarity with EPA/stormwater regulations and lab testing procedures.
  • Background in environmental chemistry or construction tools.
  • EIT Certification a plus
