Job description

Every vehicle that changes hands across the vehicle lifecycle depends on one thing above all: knowing who's on the other side of the transaction. As a Product Manager II on the Vehicle Custody team, you'll own the ongoing direction and maintenance of our Identity Verification (IDV) solution - the layer that confirms the identity across every digital vehicle release, transfer, and pickup. You won't just manage a backlog. You'll help define how identity is verified at scale - evaluating authentication methods, fraud and risk signals, and how IDV integrates into Secure Vehicle Transfer and other custody workflows - while directly reducing fraud exposure and friction for the people moving vehicles every day.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own and evolve a high-impact, high-scrutiny problem space. You'll drive product management for Identity Verification within Vehicle Custody - a domain where security, fraud prevention, and user experience all have to hold together. You'll work alongside experienced PMs, security and fraud partners, and operators to keep the offering current as authentication technology and risk patterns evolve.
  • Own the ongoing roadmap and direction for Identity Verification, balancing security requirements, fraud risk, and user friction and needs
  • Lead discovery efforts - conducting research, engaging with field and driver-side users, and evaluating authentication approaches, vendors, and risk signals against real-world custody workflows
  • Groom and maintain a well-defined backlog - translating validated problems into clearly written features and user stories that engineering teams can act on
  • Leverage fraud and risk data, customer feedback, and operational data to identify enhancement opportunities and emerging threats
  • Define and track KPIs for Identity Verification (e.g., verification success rate, fraud incidents, drop-off/abandonment), monitoring results and flagging when outcomes are trending off course
  • Partner with security, fraud, UX, data and analytics, and engineering teams to ensure IDV solutions are well-specified, feasible, and grounded in real user and risk needs
  • Guide how Identity Verification integrates with adjacent Vehicle Custody workflows, including Secure Vehicle Transfer, Digital Vehicle Release, as well as other Cox Automotive products
  • Assist in the development business case documentation and product collateral to support prioritization, vendor evaluation, and stakeholder alignment
  • Use AI to accelerate discovery, experimentation, and development, and recommend improvements
  • Adopt AI tooling and employ a mindset and focus on how to think about and approach work in the PDLC
  • Share learnings openly - contributing to a discovery culture that values transparency, iteration, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with PMs and cross-functional partners on the release train to stay aligned and avoid duplication across problem areas
  • Supports product issue / problem resolution

WHO YOU ARE
You're a Product Manager who is curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating where security, fraud, and user experience intersect. You ask good questions, take feedback well, and are motivated by seeing your work reduce real risk and friction. You understand that Identity Verification sits at the center of trust in Vehicle Custody - and you use that context to help shape direction, not just execute against it.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of experience; or a master's degree and up to 2 years of experience; or 6 years of experience in a related field with no degree
  • Foundational skills in managing multiple priorities, requirements analysis, and technology integration
  • Ability to leverage customer feedback, data, fraud and risk signals, and user experience insights to identify product opportunities and enhancements
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally - able to build relationships and coordinate effectively with security, fraud, engineering, UX, and operations partners
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodology
  • High integrity; focused on execution, building partnerships, and striving for excellence in everything you ship
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship

PREFERRED BACKGROUND
We're not prescriptive about where you've been - we care about what you can do. That said, candidates with experience in any of the following areas may find this role a natural fit:
  • Identity verification, authentication, or fraud prevention
  • Security, risk, or trust platforms
  • Automotive or Wholesale
  • Operations or Logistics
  • Supply Chain Technology
  • Familiarity with analytics and product tools such as Pendo, Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake
  • Exposure to AI-related initiatives or tools

USD 89,400.00 - 134,000.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $89,400.00 - $134,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
