Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Solution Architect SME to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise technical authority for design and governance of secure, scalable data analytics and application architectures supporting mission requirements.
  • Establish baseline and target solution architectures, define IT standards, and ensure alignment across business, systems, and information domains.
  • Review and adjudicate architectural designs for data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, bigdata platforms (Spark/Hadoop), and analytics platforms to ensure technical maturity and compliance.
  • Advise leadership on solution strategy, modernization planning, performance optimization, and cloud/hosting tradeoffs across multienvironment ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Ensure architectures incorporate DoDM 8140.03/DCWF role 651 responsibilities, ITIL 4 service management practices, COOP/COG continuity, and operational sustainment considerations.
  • Guide automation strategy, scripting, and workflow optimization to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Validate scalability, resiliency, security controls, and RMF/ATO implications for proposed solutions; support accreditation evidence and audit readiness.
  • Produce decisiongrade architecture artifacts: roadmaps, CONOPS, BOMs, ROMs/COAs, integration patterns, and executive briefings.
  • Mentor engineering teams, enforce architecture governance, and lead architecture review/adjudication processes.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:

    • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
    • Relevant DoD/military training (example: SANS SEC545 (Cloud Security Architecture)); OR
    • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional; Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert; CISSPISSAP).
  • Required experience and skills:

    • Enterprise solution architecture, systems engineering, or platform engineering experience with at least 7 years in senior architecture roles.
    • Deep expertise in data architecture (DW/ETL/ELT), bigdata platforms (Spark/Hadoop), analytics stacks, and scalable application architectures.
    • Proven experience architecting cloud solutions across AWS/Azure/GCP, validating resiliency, scalability, security, and operational sustainability.
    • Strong knowledge of DoD/Army cybersecurity and RMF/ATO considerations, ITIL service management, COOP/COG planning, and evidence requirements.
    • Ability to produce decisiongrade artifacts (DoDAF/architecture views, roadmaps, ROMs/COAs) and brief senior leadership.
  • Desired:

    • Prior DoD/ARNG enterprise architecture experience and familiarity with DCWF role 651 responsibilities.
    • Experience with automation/orchestration, infrastructure as code, data governance, and operational monitoring for analytics platforms.

Target Salary Range$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
