What is a Produce Terminal?

A Produce Terminal is a centralized marketplace where wholesalers, distributors, and sometimes retailers buy and sell large quantities of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other produce. These facilities serve as major distribution hubs, ensuring that produce moves efficiently from growers to grocery stores, restaurants, and other buyers. Produce terminals help maintain the quality and freshness of produce by streamlining the supply chain, reducing transit times, and providing climate-controlled storage. They play a critical role in the food supply system of urban and regional markets.
