Job Description

Assists in the operation of the Liquid Asphalt Terminal as directed by supervision and the terminal operator relating to safety, maintenance and production of the processing operation. Operates and inspects mechanical equipment related to the Liquid Asphalt processing terminal, observes operation of equipment to detect malfunction, and informs supervisor when malfunction occurs.

** Must be available to work any assigned shift.**

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Loading and unloading Elevated Temperature Liquid Tankers
  • Unloading Elevated Temperature Liquid Railcars
  • Operating and maintaining a Liquid Asphalt production plant
  • Use of hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and repair, storage tanks, agitators, pumps, transfer lines, scales, condensers, etc.
  • Responsible for greasing, lubrication, and other preventative maintenance including welding.
  • Ensures all safety guidelines are followed
  • Maintains the processing equipment within the general guidelines for each piece of processing machinery as directed
  • Records and maintains accurate maintenance records and forms
  • Responsible for the inspection of safety devices, asphalt pumps, valves, and equipment
  • Responsible for greasing and lubrication
  • Operates heavy machinery including forklifts, man lifts, loader (backhoe)
Education and Experience
  • Experience with operating procedures of multiple types of equipment
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven experience in a setting that requires mechanical know-how.
  • Experience in electrical, plumbing, or carpentry is a huge plus.
  • Must be understand technical drawings, manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Basic welding skills or knowledge of fabrication is a plus.
  • Must have basic knowledge of proper operating procedures of multiple types of equipment
  • Must be capable of operating the assigned machine and any other related equipment in a safe manner, and must be able to do a competent inspection of the equipment.
  • Must be able to apply and retain information provided in crew meetings.
  • Must be able to understand directions/instructions on methods/process to do work
  • Must be able to maintain high level of awareness for a busy project work environment
