Job description

Overview

In this role as an Indirect Procurement Manager for our Bio-Rad Hercules, CA location you will:

  • Leads a group of commodity specialists spanning across Americas region with multiple sites within the region.
  • Oversees the team that serves as the primary purchasing reps at each manufacturing site and will handle escalation of issues with suppliers.
  • Lead a team of Commodity Specialists.
  • Manage workload and provide coaching to the team for both strategic and transactional tasks. 
  • Manages stakeholder engagement and partnerships. 
  • Implements value improvement opportunities. 
  • Participates in meetings and discussions with procurement leadership regarding team activities, policy and procedure improvements. 
  • Implements Global strategies at Regional level to increase supplier performance, capability development, capacity management and cost/quality improvements for supply chain vendors. 
  • Manages escalated supplier reviews and delivers supplier performance and metrics to upper level management. 
  • Develops supply chain risk mitigation plans. 
  • Monitors performance of individual team members, provides feedback. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the function is appropriately staffed to deliver business expectations. 
  • Implement Continuous Improvement activities as defined to improve efficiency in the procurement process.

How You'll Make An Impact: 

  • Experienced professional with wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues. 
  • Manages a Procurement team supporting regional commodity needs at the manufacturing sites. 
  • Manages procurement functions including Sourcing, supplier selection and qualification, supplier management -Manages procurement team to ensure effective delivery of objectives. 
  • Participates in Supplier AVL development, supplier compliance tracking, supplier business continuity and contract spend management. 
  • Proactively partner with Business stakeholders to identify cost saving opportunities and supplier consolidation. 
  • Develop commodity and subcommodity strategic plan, analyze supply base and recommend forward procurement supplier list. 
  • May be asked to serve on the Global Purchasing Council, Commodity Strategy Board or participate in the Policy Review Team.

What You Bring: 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance or related field. MBA or Masters preferred
  • Work Experience: 10+ years' experience in purchasing/commodity goods management. 
  • 10 + years of purchasing or procurement experience 
  • 5+ years of leading or managing a sourcing team required.
  • 2+ years experience creating procurement Strategy. 
  • Experience with/knowledge of direct materials used in production within the Americas Region. 
  • Negotiation skills required and certification a plus. 
  • Cross-functional team leadership and high performing work team skills. 
  • Solid knowledge of financial principles related to budgeting, make vs buy analysis and Gross margin impact.

Location: This position must be based in Hercules, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $157,400 to $216,400 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
