What does a procurement transformation project manager do?

A Procurement Transformation Project Manager leads initiatives to improve and modernize an organization's procurement processes. This role involves analyzing current procurement operations, identifying areas for improvement, implementing new technologies or strategies, and managing change across teams. The goal is to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and align procurement practices with organizational objectives. These project managers work closely with stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful transformation projects. They typically possess strong project management skills and in-depth knowledge of procurement best practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a procurement transformation project manager?

To thrive as a Procurement Transformation Project Manager, you need expertise in procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and project management, often backed by a relevant degree and certifications like PMP or CIPS. Familiarity with e-procurement platforms, ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle), and advanced analytics tools is typically required. Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and change management skills are crucial for driving organizational buy-in and facilitating smooth transitions. These capabilities are vital to successfully leading procurement transformation initiatives that deliver cost savings, efficiency, and long-term value.

What are some typical challenges faced by a procurement transformation project manager during large-scale change initiatives?

As a Procurement Transformation Project Manager, you will often encounter challenges such as stakeholder resistance to new processes, integrating new technologies with legacy systems, and aligning cross-functional teams on unified objectives. Navigating these obstacles requires strong communication and change management skills to ensure buy-in from leadership and end-users alike. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the design and delivery of highimpact Leadership and Professional Development learning programs. This role focuses on managing traditional L&D training development projects-from concept through delivery-working closely with instructional designers, learning program leaders, subject matter experts, and external vendors.

This is an ideal opportunity for a project manager who understands how learning is built, thrives in creative environments, and enjoys bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to complex, multistakeholder initiatives.

What You'll Do

Lead EndtoEnd Learning Production

  • Partner with instructional designers, learning program managers, and vendors to bring learning concepts to life.
  • Ensure new learning experiences are delivered on time, within scope, and with consistent quality.

Plan, Coordinate & Execute

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, dependencies, milestones, and risk logs.
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives with overlapping timelines and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate alignment across designers, SMEs, vendors, and leadership.

Stakeholder & Working Group Management

  • Lead working group meetings and design reviews with instructional designers, SMEs, and vendors.
  • Ensure requirements are clearly defined and validated prior to design and development.
  • Act as a trusted partner-educating stakeholders on learning design processes and best practices.

Quality, Communication & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure deliverables meet agreedupon acceptance criteria, instructional standards, and design constraints.
  • Provide regular status updates, surface risks early, and celebrate wins.
  • Gather feedback, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend refinements to processes.
  • Support production roadmaps, vendor coordination, and budget tracking

What Makes You a Great Fit

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ years of project or program management experience, preferably in learning or creative environments.
  • Experience managing the development of learning solutions across multiple formats:
    • eLearning
    • Video
    • Virtual and classroom training
    • Simulations, games, or nudges
  • Strong ability to manage aggressive timelines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and bringing structure to complex work.
  • Strong consulting mindset with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Collaborative, relationshipdriven approach to teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or professional certification in Project Management, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or related fields.
  • Experience using SAM or Agile learning development methodologies.
  • 3+ years of experience in Learning & Development or a creative studio environment.
  • Experience leading design reviews and working sessions with SMEs.
  • Ability to educate stakeholders on adult learning principles and address common learning misconceptions.
  • Automotive industry experience a plus.
