Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.

This is an evergreen requisition- ABB is continuously building a talent pool of highly motivated and innovative Buyers for upcoming opportunities across Electrification, Automation, and Motion businesses at multiple locations in India including Nashik, Bangalore, Faridabad, and Vadodara.
You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Initiating Purchase Orders in the system according to purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirming delivery with suppliers

  • Monitoring and tracking supplier performance to PO requirements, ensuring on-time delivery and quality compliance

  • Negotiating agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renewing price lists, terms and conditions

  • Recommending frame agreements to management and executing upon approval

  • Analyzing and evaluating bids to determine optimal value for the organization

  • Identifying and developing new sources of supply in cooperation with category teams

  • Managing vendor relationships and improving supplier performance

  • Ensuring compliance with ABB procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards

  • Maintaining accurate records in SAP MM system and generating procurement reports

Qualifications for the role

  • B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering (Full-time) OR Full-time Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation with 2-15 years of relevant experience

  • Practical experience in procurement of electrical products such as LV/MV Switchgear (ACB, MCB, MCCB, PCC, MCC Panels, AIS, GIS, RMU), LV/MV Drives, motors, pumps, rotating equipment, cables, automation systems, and field instruments

  • Experience in procurement of automation products including DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, HMI, field instruments (Flow, Pressure, Level, Temperature), analyzers, and control systems.

  • Proficiency in SAP MM module (PO creation, GRN, Invoice verification, Vendor master management) and Advanced MS Excel

  • Extensive vendor development and supplier relationship management experience with documented supplier performance improvements

  • Experience with price negotiation, bid evaluation, contract management, and frame agreement execution

  • Knowledge of import/export procedures, Incoterms, GST, and TDS compliance in procurement operations

  • Well-developed analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial equipment sectors with understanding of end-to-end procurement processes
