Job Objective
The Senior Buyer plays a critical role in supplier performance, cost control, lead time reduction and purchase order execution. This role contributes to oversight of supplier relationships, purchasing decisions, and inventory planning to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing of raw materials, components and supplies to support production schedules. The Senior Buyer/Planner acts as a subject matter expert, mentors less experienced team members, and drives continuous improvement in quality, delivery, and cost performance - consistent with GS Precision company policy and performance standards.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in determining the best sourcing strategies that meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Develop inventory strategies and maintain accurate records to optimize inventory levels and working capital
  • Analyze market trends, supply risks, and cost drivers; proactively identify and onboard new suppliers
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Manage outsourced services workflows from end to end, including issue resolution and performance improvement
  • Hold suppliers accountable for delivery, quality, and cost commitments
  • Ensure compliance with all Company, Industry, and Customer requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management to align procurement activities with customer and business needs
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to Buyer/Planner team members as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and supply chain processes
  • Treat everyone with respect by building positive internal and external relationships to influence outcomes that deliver value for both the Company and Suppliers
  • Ensure that GS Precision has the materials and services required to meet production schedules and long-term business objectives. Continuously monitor and follow up with suppliers to assure on time delivery
  • Implement and maintain procurement best practices, policies, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred) or High school diploma with 8+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, sourcing, or supply chain roles
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry (preferred) or equivalent experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to lead negotiations and manage supplier relationships
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and lead within cross-functional teams
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, positive energy, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems
