Job Summary

The Processing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing laboratory processing operations, specimen logistics, and quality assurance. This role ensures high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency under the direction of the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Ensure accurate and timely specimen processing and maintain specimen quality standards.
  • Manage daily workflow through effective employee scheduling.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance; provide coaching and counseling as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely ordering of supplies.
  • Support phlebotomy operations as needed.
  • Serve as the on-call supervisory resource on a rotating weekend schedule.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Adhere to and promote company compliance policies; educate clients on relevant issues.
  • Monitor turnaround times for lab testing and ensure timely delivery of results to physicians.
  • Ensure client-supplied materials align with hospital policies and usage standards.
  • Monitor and report on specimen errors and issues, ensuring cross functional visibility for root cause identification and correction.

Client & Team Relations

  • Foster strong working relationships with clients and their staff through excellent service, training, and issue resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding lab processing timelines and issues.
  • Report issues to the Program Manager and follow through on resolutions.
  • Treat all employees and clients with honesty, dignity, courtesy, and respect.

Leadership & Initiative

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform any staff role during absences.
  • Proactively identify and address potential program weaknesses before they become problems.
  • Lead or support the implementation of systems and projects aligned with company goals.

Qualifications

  • Background in Clinical Lab Technology.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills; adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and basic quality systems.
  • Ability to plan workloads and manage projects effectively.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous sitting and walking (up to 6 hours/day).
  • Intermittent bending and simple grasping with both hands.
  • Occasional typing
  • Driving as needed.
