Requisition Summary

This position is responsible for managing plant safety programs to include:  accident prevention, worker's compensation administration, safety training, ergonomics, emergency response plans, compliance with company/governmental policies and regulations. This role reports to the Human Resources Manager and works closely with operations, manufacturing engineering, and facilities to achieve the plant's overall safety goals. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Drive change in the organization's safety culture to achieve World's Best Safety results. 
  • Manage a comprehensive safety program including prevention, inspection, investigation, and recording of incidents and related costs.
  • Detect hazardous conditions, track and measure results and recommend as well as implement appropriate actions.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to ensure consistency and accuracy in case management and reporting
  • Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA/WISHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted.
  • Provide leadership, training, and analysis to leaders, managers, and employees in the identification of potential hazards and accident prevention.
  • Oversee the Division's OSHA/WISHA and worker's compensation programs, including investigations, reporting, and collection of information for claims management.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing/Environmental Engineering to develop and implement preventive or corrective measures relating to processes, machinery layout, plant ergonomics, and chemical procurements.
  • Actively monitor, evaluate, and manage proper PPE needs for the plant.
  • Proactively streamline safety processes and automate as appropriate.
  • Oversee the safety committee ensuring effectiveness.
  • Design and facilitate safety training.   Work with Training and Compliance coordinator to meet initial and recurring safety training deadlines.
  • Work closely with Facilities Manager on the plant emergency programs. 
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Coordinate with OSHA/WISHA inspections.
  • Provide back-up and assistance to the medical staff when needed.  Includes the willingness to assist in basic first aid, urine drug screens, or other duties as needed. 
  • Benchmark safety programs with other PACCAR locations as well as suppliers and PACCAR peer companies.
  • Support overall department objectives, tasks, events and other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Technology or related field required. Master's Degree in applicable field, as well as professional certification in safety, industrial hygiene or hazardous materials a plus.
  • 7+ years closely related industrial safety and health experience. Familiar with OSHA, WISHA, NFPA, ACGIH regulations. 
  • Administrative and organizational ability.
  • Demonstrated experience with environmental Health & Safety (EHS) systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to communicate to various levels within the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to present/facilitate large group meetings (500+ employees).
  • Have strong critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to lead by example, advise and affect change with peer group, make decisions, and use independent judgment and or action when required.
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft programs
  • Experience and or lead auditor training preferred to ISO 45001 
  • Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of heavy manufacturing environment and equipment preferred.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Salary Information

At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors, including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for the Plant Safety Manager is $104,100 - $148,100 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for a full range of benefit options listed above.
