Job description

Position Title: Processing Supervisor
Reports To: Assistant Manager
Department: Operations
Position Purpose and Objectives
The Processing Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily activities of the production team, ensuring that company standards are maintained across all areas of the store. This role involves staying on top of daily production goals, ensuring fast, accurate, and efficient processing by team members, and conducting hands-on audits and quality control checks. The supervisor will actively engage with the team to assess, train, and provide coaching, setting the standard for donor experience, productivity, and customer service, in line with America's Thrift Stores Core Values.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct the daily activities of the production team.
  • Manage inventory tracking systems to monitor deliveries and stock levels.
  • Analyze inventory levels and anticipate shortages or issues, taking proactive steps to ensure sufficient stock.
  • Communicate targets and progress to team members.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of team members.
  • Schedule team members according to the store's labor requirements.
  • Capable of performing all tasks required of processing team members.
  • Regularly observe, coach, and recognize team members for performance.
  • Maintain high standards of merchandise condition, pricing, freshness, and shop-ability.
  • Support the General Manager with sales and marketing promotions and programs as needed.
  • Assist donors following company standards.
  • Foster a respectful and values-driven workplace environment.
  • Utilize open communication tools to translate team feedback into action.
  • Address complaints and bring them to the attention of the Assistant Store Manager or General Manager for resolution.
  • Safeguard company assets and information, ensuring secure handling and integrity.
  • Promote loss prevention by upholding procedures and policies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following OSHA guidelines and ensuring compliance with safety policies.
  • In the absence of the Assistant Store Manager, manage production processes and team operations in line with all policies and regulations.
  • Make decisions and take appropriate actions when Assistant Store Manager or General Manager is unavailable.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or higher-level managers.

Skills and Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience in a supervisory, team lead, or key holder role in retail or industrial processing.
  • Basic mathematical, reading comprehension, and computer skills.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to assess, observe, and coach others effectively.
  • Ability to follow and apply instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to apply sound judgment in various situations.
  • Successful completion of background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual Preferred.

  • Working environment includes inside of building with semi- controlled temperatures and outside conditions with varying weather and temperatures.
