Job description

Position Summary and Responsibilities: The purpose of the Processing Department Lead is to assist the Processing Supervisor by training new and existing team members and monitoring overall activities of the Processing Department.

• Train new and existing team members on policies, procedures, guidelines, and equipment operation within the processing department • Monitor daily production schedule to ensure goals are met.

• Perform all duties accurately and efficiently while working safely under all conditions.

• Follow all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure quality of products is maintained.

• Report each of the following to processing supervisor immediately: work-related injuries and accidents, damage to equipment, and process or equipment problems.

• Identify and resolve production-related issues and/or report opportunities to maximize production.

• Ensure team is operating safely and adheres to safety programs and procedures.

• Provide bench strength to Processing Supervisor and assist in carrying out daily activities, production goals, and special projects as needed.

• Responsible for learning the roles and responsibilities within each functional area of the processing department to include Smokehouse Operation, Sanitation, Blend and Grind, and Stuffing.

• Provide support throughout the department as directed by supervisor.

• Must be knowledgeable in the proper setup, operation, and daily maintenance of the department’s machinery and equipment.

• Responsible for housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitary conditions within the department.

• Reporting materials and labor to jobs through ROSS manufacturing software.

• Conducts quality assurance checks and alerts management to any issues.

• Perform various product checks and record time and temperature on H.A.A.C.P. records.

• Ensure that machinery, equipment, floors, walls, and ceilings are properly cleaned and sanitized according to schedule.

• Will be required to disassemble and reassemble machinery before and after cleaning and sanitation.

• Conduct necessary preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment according to schedule.

• Provide bench strength during pre-operational inspection to ensure that department is clean and ready for production according to company S.S.O.P.'s.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment

• Must have basic knowledge of proper processing procedures

• Ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel

• Must be able to stand on your feet at least 85% of the day and work in a cold (32-40º) environment

• Excellent Communication Skills

• At least one year experience in a training role preferred


Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75lbs
