Job description

Eagle Integrated Services, LLC (EIS) is seeking Medical Specimen Processing Assistant
Mandatory Qualifications. The Contractor shall possess at a minimum a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to type at least 30 words per minute, possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and have at least one (1) year experience handling and accessioning medical laboratory specimens.
Physical Capabilities: Tasks may require long periods of working in a laboratory setting and/or at a computer. Must be able to lift shipping boxes/materials weighting approximately 50 lbs. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
The Contractor must have a Non-Disclosure Agreement in place with their company, and the company must provide a copy to the Program Manager of this task order. This is necessary
in order to mitigate transfer of any confidential, proprietary and/or sensitive information while in this position.
The Contractor shall:
  • Follow all PHE documents and forms.
  • Receive and process medical shipment boxes from various agencies.
  • Track errors/discrepancies with IATA shipping regulations.
  • All boxes received must be processed daily unless otherwise directed by PHE leadership.
  • Process, verify, accession in CHCS, and re-label medical specimens from various agencies. All specimens received must be processed daily, excluding Federal holidays that FedEx doesn't deliver (refer to FedEx Holiday Delivery Schedule available at www.fedex.com), unless otherwise directed by PHE leadership.
  • Must document condition that specimens are received; frozen, refrigerated, or room temperature.
  • Stability of specimens must be monitored and evaluated according to PHE procedures.
  • Frozen specimens require additional time for thawing and drying prior to processing.
  • Specimens will be sorted upon arrival by sample type for priority of specimen processing and identifying short stability specimens according to PHE procedures and unless otherwise directed by PHE leadership.
  • Enter specimen and patient data into the USAFSAM/PHE Laboratory Information System. Errors in the entering of this data can have serious impacts, and so generally result in the creation of an Incident Report by the Government. The Contractor is required to address any Incident Reports in the ensuing Monthly Status Report (Ref Para 8.1).
  • Deliver specimens to the appropriate sections of the laboratory.
  • Processes specimens being sent to outside reference laboratories.
  • Perform all tasks using appropriate techniques to assure specimen integrity and positive identification throughout the laboratory processes.
  • Receive, process, and ship shipping supply orders to customers as needed.
  • Prepare and ship boxes back to customers.
  • Receives, processes, stores shipments and specimens as directed by the program manager/lead laboratory specimen processor during base closures to ensure specimen stability is not effected.
  • Accomplish other laboratory tasks as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
