In this hands-on position, you'll process payments, operate specialized equipment, and ensure accurate updates to customer records—all while helping us serve our customers and strengthen our communities. Job Summary

The Cash Processing Coordinator I (Fixed Term) performs various cash processing functions to assist in processing and updating files, company information, and data entry in the customer care and billing system, spreadsheets, and other cash processing systems. This position opens and processes customer payments. This role operates all cash processing equipment. This position ensures timely completion of cash processing work within the scheduling parameters provided by the team lead customer support center. This role is responsible for the efficient and accurate end-to-end processing of payments in compliance with policies and procedures.

What you will do

  • Processes and reviews cash payments and updates customer records in customer care and billing system and related systems.
  • Works periodic activity reports as related to cash processing functions.
  • Develops and maintains a basic working knowledge of the core IT systems that support the cash processing activities in order to monitor the system for errors, coordinating with vendors and information technology (IT) as applicable.
  • Verifies data input and corrects errors related to the cash processing process to ensure daily transmittal of payment files to the bank are accurate and timely.
  • Communicates with external and internal customers on cash processing issues as directed.
  • Maintains knowledge of customer information system for billing and collection processes to troubleshoot issues and focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains an expert knowledge of the functions, policies, practices, and procedures that affect the operation of the cash processing organization.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure to meet and maintain quality and quantity production standards.
  • Opens and routes hard copy and electronic mail and manages cash processing correspondence as needed.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Supervision

  • Performs work under the direct supervision of a Supervisor or Manager.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Associate Degree Preferred.

Required Experience

  • 2 years of related experience Required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Preferred ability to type at a minimum of 30 wpm.
  • Passage of a computerized ten key pad skills test.
  • Effective verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading.
  • Ability to perform accurately and effectively in a timely manner, able to perform complex mathematical calculations.
  • Effective organizational skills; ability to handle confidential matters discreetly.
  • Working knowledge of computer system and software skills, such as Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated ability to become proficient in additional software required to complete daily tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
