The Lead Specialist for GPS Accounting & Initiatives supports projects related to complex, highly visible, and transformative initiatives that intersect Accounting, Finance, Technology, and Compliance. This role emphasizes strong execution, analytical problem-solving, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver process improvements, efficiencies, and enabling capabilities in a compliant-oriented environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supports and/or leads workstreams for strategic initiatives that require interactions with GPS leadership, helping create alignment to support growth and profit outcomes in a collaborative, compliance-focused manner. As a key contributor on the GPS Accounting and Initiatives team, the role helps develop insights and operationalize initiatives, including supporting implementation and adoption of system enhancements across both the GPS and firmwide suite of financial systems.
- Partners with GPS management to support compliance and regulatory processes, contributing analysis and documentation while balancing Sector, OP, and Firm perspectives and incentives.
- Contributes to the design and implementation of financial processes, analytics, and technology/reporting enhancements that underpin New GPS Business Models (including Products+, Services+, etc) in compliance with Federal regulations.
- Identifies and helps implement process improvements and efficiencies to benefit the team and practice (e.g., standardizing templates, improving data quality checks, streamlining recurring reporting).
- Supports federal compliance initiatives including analyzing direct and indirect rates, documenting and reviewing compliance processes and procedures, and other activities as required.
The Team
Our GPS Finance practice supports engagement teams in defining requirements we sign up to in our contracts. We help to define staffing and other forecast items in as much detail as possible using advanced financial, budgeting, and forecasting techniques. We provide realistic cost estimates that account for engagements' phases and activities, people, materials, hardware, and software and produce the best- and worst-case estimates using leading-edge project and client management software to keep clients' projects on track and on cost.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a financial and/or accounting based role
- 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Excel (Advanced Skill)
- 1+ years of experience applying GenAI tools to work tasks (summarization, synthesis, data interpretation, co
- ntent drafting) with strong judgment around confidentiality, bias, and validation
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
- Strong organization, consultative, communication (written and verbal), stakeholder management, time management, and presentation skills
- Prior experience with Enterprise Systems required (e.g., Costpoint, SAP, etc.)
- Experience with accounting system querying tools (e.g., Cognos, Query Studio)
- Working understanding of governance, risk, and compliance concepts
- Experience working in a professional services environment supporting a government contractor
- Ability to synthesize large volumes of data into meaningful insights for leadership and stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work across concurrent initiatives
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $84,300 to $155,400.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
Professionals in the OpX Channel may apply and be considered for the role regardless of US office location.
