Job description

Hourly Wage: $24.71 - $28.88

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day and night shift

JOB SUMMARY

The Process Technician extracts and crystallizes sugar from sugar beets. Individuals in this position operate factory processing equipment and mobile equipment, perform pilot lab sampling and analysis, and perform manual labor. Individuals in this position coordinate with supervisors to ensure that production equipment is properly configured and/or set up for desired processing rates and production quality standards. They also perform mechanical inspections and adjustments, including troubleshooting, to maintain optimum operating conditions. Individuals can become proficient in multiple functional areas of the factory through the Process Technician Specialized Training Program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General labor including general process support, mobile equipment operation, and cleaning activities
  • Operate process equipment using process control systems
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical, operational, and electrical issues
  • Identify product issues resulting from operational issues
  • Use hand tools and rigging to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and company quality standards
  • Comply with federal, state, company, and factory safety requirements
  • Be able to work overtime if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English in order to comprehend & interpret technical literature.
  • Must be able to use standard tools.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to use basic computer skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year of industrial experience
  • Familiarity with computerized process control systems

SCHEDULE:

  • Full time
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Rotating days and nights

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

Daily activities include standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, squatting/crouching/kneeling, climbing (stairs and ladders), and balancing. Individuals are required to lift assorted items up to 50 pounds individually and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, beard and hairnets, and appropriate clothing. The candidate will be required to submit to and successfully pass a Safety Screen that evaluates their ability to safely perform the duties & tasks defined for this position.

Compensation Range:
$24.71 - $37.84 /hr
