Position Summary:
As our Process Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting all cabling processes in operations including twisting, bunching and planetary type cabling equipment. The qualified candidate will have experience in the extrusion process utilizing PVC, TPE, TPU, Nylon, Polyurethane, Fluoropolymers and Cross-Linked Polyethylene over copper wire gauges ranging from 4/0 down to 44 awg. These cable products are sold into the industrial, multimedia, data-com, medical, military, and alternative energy markets.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Experience: 5+ years engineering in manufacturing environment, bulk cable and/or cable assembly
  • Education: Bachelor of Science engineering degree - Electrical, Industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, chemical, material science from an accredited college or university achieving a 3.0+ GPA preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent knowledge of bulk cable and cable assembly design, materials, components, processes, and electrical/mechanical testing and regulatory approvals; excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, AutoCAD, Access database navigation, Internet; excellent written/verbal communication skills.

What will you be Accountable for?
  • Identify highest impact opportunities to improve overall extrusion and cabling process utilization and efficiencies, and drive improvements to completion and validated financial impact.
  • Identify highest impact opportunities to improve overall quality in terms of product produced, and reduction of raw materials process losses, and drive improvements to completion and validated financial impact.
  • Prioritize and implement optimize production improvement objectives to deliver cost savings, improve quality, enhance safety and support new product introduction, on schedule, in a team environment.

How will you Collaborate?
  • Work directly with design engineering, and suppliers to develop innovative engineered process solutions ensuring alignment between machine capability, materials and customer requirements.
  • Contributing thought leader in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques to streamline production and maximize efficiencies.
  • Work with internal and external suppliers of materials, equipment and services to execute projects, resolve problems and improve processes.
  • Works with project engineers to identify new technologies and/ or equipment modifications to increase productivity and reduce waste, supported by documented justifications, ROI analysis and proper project/capital requests.

What are you Empowered to do?
  • Support development engineering in new product development contributing capability assessment and gaps versus upcoming new products, and ensure the gaps are addressed during product design.
  • Identify insufficient processes / equipment and suggest improvement / replacement opportunities to assist with development of investment planning.
  • Select, design and modify tooling, fixtures and equipment as necessary to improve safety, quality, throughput and productivity.
  • Develops annual goals and objectives for process improvement and manages implementation of the process improvement strategy. Analyzes production trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Writes, performs, analyzes and reports on validations to support new and/or improved processes.
  • Participates in the development and application of training procedures for machine operators on new equipment installations, equipment modifications and new or modified SOPs.

Pay Transparency:
Winchester Interconnect Corporation is committed to pay transparency. The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 plus incentive compensation. Exact salary will be contingent upon your experience, education skills and other factors Winchester Interconnect Corporation considers relevant to the hiring decision.
